Polymarket, the Election Predicting Platform, Might Go into Sports Betting Next

Polymarket has been associated with election betting, although it has been quick to confirm that it's not just the outcome of the US presidential elections that it is interested in. It is, after all, a crypto-trading platform, and betting on the US presidential election's events is just one of its prediction markets. And insiders say that Polymarket's new foray in the US market will be all about sports betting. In the era of big data, election enthusiasts have a new favorite: prediction markets, where users can wager on anything from election results to economic forecasts. This year, the spotlight is on Polymarket, a blockchain-powered platform that has captured substantial attention as political tensions rise and the crypto industry funnels millions into betting avenues. While political insiders debated President Joe Biden's future, Polymarket users were already betting on whether he'd step down - and many made accurate calls. Yet with US restrictions on political betting, Polymarket's impressive volume stems largely from international users, although users from the US still find ways to access the platform despite regulations. Polymarket's predictions The numbers are staggering. Polymarket reports that its markets on the 2024 US presidential race alone have attracted an incredible $2.8 billion, though roughly a third might stem from so-called wash trading, where users create artificial transactions to boost liquidity. Politics, therefore, has been Polymarket's cash cow, significantly exceeding the platform's other categories. However, with election season waning very soon, the platform is shifting focus to sports betting - an area with the potential to draw a large, consistent user base outside of political cycles. For Polymarket, sports could be a game-changer. In October, the platform subtly promoted its sports category by tagging it 'NEW,' and although the label has since disappeared, Polymarket's leaders are making their ambitions clear. Chief Executive Officer Shayne Coplan recently demonstrated this vision in response to a New York Times article about potential manipulation risks within the platform. "Polymarket is not about politics," he posted on X (formerly Twitter). "The vision never was to be a political website, and it still isn't." He pointed out that the platform's vision is broad, and its aspirations to branch into sports are gaining momentum. A shift in focus: the sports betting market exhibits great potential Backing Polymarket's efforts is Nick Tomaino, founder of investment firm 1confirmation, which has put faith (and funds) into the platform. "Sports will be more of a focus after the election," Tomaino told Front Office Sports. "There's already almost $95 million in USDC volume on the Super Bowl 2025 future market." This early response signals that bettors are warming to Polymarket's sports options, although the platform will face a steep learning curve as it adapts its prediction-market structure to fit the high-stakes, fast-paced world of sports. Polymarket's approach differs from traditional sportsbooks, where bookmakers analyze data to set odds and maintain a roughly equal split of bets on either side to guarantee profits. In contrast, prediction markets rely on contracts or events that boil down to yes-or-no questions: Will Georgia be able to win the championship in college football? Will Jake Paul defeat Mike Tyson? Users purchase shares based on the likelihood of these outcomes, which adjusts dynamically based on collective betting sentiment. If bettors favor one outcome heavily, its price rises; if opinions shift, so does the share price. This fluid system is designed to reflect real-time probabilities that shift as information surfaces. In sports, where injuries, penalties, and live scores constantly alter expectations, this dynamic, user-driven betting style may appeal to fans looking to capitalize on such changes. Tomaino suggests, "24/7 real-time trading for sports outcomes will be big. Sports futures is a unique product. You can bet on the Chiefs to win the Super Bowl at any sportsbook, of course, but you can't trade around the position." On Polymarket, users can sell their shares before a game or event concludes, allowing them to lock in gains or cut losses. For instance, a bettor who backed the Dodgers early in the World Series could sell those shares as their odds of winning improved. A new and innovative way to bet: but will it work? Yet this blend of sports and prediction markets is not without challenges. Other platforms, like Frontrunner, have attempted similar ventures but ultimately struggled to capture a solid foothold. Polymarket's individual game markets currently face thin volume compared to sportsbooks with dedicated sports betting user bases. When Thursday Night Football debuted on the platform, it registered just over $500,000 in betting volume - meager compared to the billions in weekly action seen by US sportsbooks during the NFL season. For Polymarket, the task now is to pivot successfully and build its credibility among sports bettors. Tomaino and Coplan are betting on the platform's ability to create a new model, one where crypto-powered prediction markets offer bettors flexibility and responsiveness unmatched by traditional sports betting sites. The question remains: as Polymarket moves beyond politics, can it entice sports fans to explore prediction markets' unique offerings? Time will tell if the platform's latest venture can score big with a new audience.

Commanders Continue to Win Big, Daniels MVP Stocks on the Rise

For the first time since 1996, the Washington Commanders are now enjoying the best start in franchise history this season thanks to a massive run at 7-2 in their first nine games. However, it cannot be denied that the Commanders owe it all to the game-changing impact that Jayden Daniels has brought to the squad this season. Rookie year. Spectacular rise. And now, the MVP talks – Jayden Daniels is surely having the best time of his life as a professional athlete with the way he has earned prominence in the NFL with his impressive games for the Washington Commanders night in and night out. It cannot be denied that the Commanders – who have been long seen as the black eye of the league – have now emerged at the top thanks to his help. At this point, the Commanders are rising to the way to the top, and so does Daniels’ MVP stock as he now moves to sixth overall in most odds with a range of +1,000 to +1,600. He has finally blown past the likes of Sam Darnold, Derrick Henry, CJ Stroud, and Kyler Murray for the odds to win the MVP at this point. A Promising Win Against the Giants Jayden Daniels has been phenomenal to start the season, and he did a great job of leading the Commanders to a 27-22 win in their game against the New York Giants. This time, however, he did not need to throw a Hail Mary this time as Washington pulled off a clear victory behind their sensational rookie. Commanders head coach Dan Quinn admitted that he was a little bit concerned about their performance against their NFC East rivals after that emotional win over the Chicago Bears. However, his trust in his rookie QB has been really paying off wonders for the team as they are now seeing some impressive strides in his lead. “It was like a historic win for us last week at home in the fashion it went,” Quinn said. “How do you recognize it and yet fill the tanks back up knowing you’re heading back into a division game? I thought it showed a lot of maturity from the team and poise to say, ‘That was cool, now we got to get right back into the next process.’” In Full Control It is really rare for rookies to actually come up with impressive performances as the lead play caller for a team. CJ Stroud did it well in the previous season for the Houston Texans, but nothing has been really loud as Jayden Daniels’ campaign this season with the Commanders. This game against the Giants was a show of force. Daniels finished 15 of 22 for 209 yards, and he even managed to pull off a 42-yard pass to ice the game thanks to a finish by Olamide Zaccheaus after New York got within five. At this point, it is all his show, and he is definitely making the most out of his opportunities with the Commanders. “I’m just happy for the fan base,” said Daniels, who added that his focus remains one game and one week at a time. “They can be so proud of the product we are putting out on the field.” Now more than ever, it does seem that Daniels and the Commanders are expected to come up with more impressive strides in the coming weeks. There’s still more to play, but Daniels’ coming up with bigger performances night in and night out really reaps them a lot of benefits heading into the postseason chase now more than ever.

Alexander Zverev Emerges Victorious in the Rolex Paris Masters Final

After a season full of intense battles, it seems that Alexander Zverev will be really on pace for some interesting run at the ATP Finals after his impressive victory in the Rolex Paris Masters Final, where he defeated home favorite Ugo Humbert in straight sets to capture the winning trophy. The new world no. 2 is at the top of his game, and he is really doing it well. Climbing to the second spot with a promising victory, it does seem that Zverev is really making some strong headway in the competition heading into the ATP Finals. He really did not want any fairytale interruptions and even massive comeback stories as he went on to beat Humbert at 6-2 and 6-2 to close out the ordeal. A flawless performance, a show of things to come – a promising campaign to remember. This has been the story of Zverev’s season so far, and it cannot be denied that there are a lot of big expectations set for him now more than ever as he now moves to come up with a huge rally to finish it all with a bang at the ATP Finals. A Run to the Top As one contender got knocked out of the Rolex Paris Masters after another, it did seem that the odds were starting to shift the other way around as there were many upsets being pulled off in the latter stages of the competitions. However, it was Alexander Zverev who was unfazed and undaunted by the trials of the Paris Masters, later emerging all the way to the final. At the end of it, Zverev finished 23-13 in tour-level finals, and he sure did play relentlessly in almost every department that he impressed well behind his own serve. If you are not impressed, the German star just dropped five points en route to his seventh ATP Masters 1000 title. “I knew I had to play like this to win today,” said Zverev. “Ugo is an incredible player, but here in Paris, he plays even better than he usually does and I knew that. Once the crowd gets involved, it’s going to be difficult. So, I had to take that away early, and I did, so I’m happy about that.” Zverev is now the second German star to ever win at the Accor Arena – which is also the tournament’s final edition in the said venue before moving to La Défense Arena. This win also marks his second ATP Tour title of 2024 and his tour-leading 66th triumph of the year at 66-20. A Dominant Performance Inside Out Alexander Zverev definitely saved the best for last with his 9.46 performance rating in the game. He finished with an 8.9 serve quality, 7.4 return quality, 8.5 backhand quality, and 9.4 forehand quality. It seems that the 2020 final loss to Daniil Medvedev has really left its mark and Zverev did not want to see the same trophy slip away from his hands for a second time as he wrapped it up in 75 minutes. “It was not 100 per cent guaranteed that I would be back at this level after Roland Garros two years ago, when I basically broke everything possible in my ankle,” Zverev said. “So, to win this title here in Paris means the world to me, and I’m sure it means everything to those in my box, because they have done so much for me.” While Jannik Sinner is still the clear favorite to win the ATP Finals, it cannot be denied that Alexander Zverev’s win now moves him an inch closer to be the top pick to win it all to end the season.

Pennsylvania Town Where Parx Casino is Located Prohibits Skill Games

Pennsylvania Town Where Parx Casino is Located Prohibits Skill Games

Bensalem has become the latest town in Pennsylvania to prohibit the popular skill games. Skill games have come under scrutiny in the last few months because of their similarity to slot machines, and opponents say that skill games should be taxed, similar to slot machines. But it's worth noting that Bensalem is also the town where Parx Casino is located. The town of Bensalem, home to Parx Casino, the highest-grossing casino in Pennsylvania, has implemented a new ordinance that bans skill games in most local businesses. These machines, which closely resemble traditional slot machines but claim to offer a skill component in their gameplay, have spurred controversy across the state, with critics arguing that they encourage unregulated gambling. The Bensalem Township Council votes On Monday night, the Bensalem Township Council, led by Mayor Joseph DiGirolamo, passed the ordinance in a vote that marked a strong stance against skill games, which have proliferated in various businesses across the area. Set to go into effect on November 7, the ordinance outlaws real money gambling on skill games for businesses without liquor licenses, a measure township officials argue is necessary to protect the community from the machines' associated criminal activities. Skill games, often branded as "Pennsylvania Skill," differ from standard slot machines by requiring players to recognize winning symbol combinations to claim a payout, introducing an element of player control. Supporters of these games argue that this interactive feature places them outside the legal definition of gambling and, therefore, beyond the regulatory scope of the Pennsylvania Gaming Act. State courts have thus far agreed, although the Pennsylvania Supreme Court is currently reviewing lower court rulings on the matter. The ordinance restricts skill games to businesses holding liquor licenses and mandates that these machines remain in areas monitored by video surveillance and accessible only to individuals over 18. Businesses with no liquor licenses that still offer skill games will face a fine per day of $1,000. Protecting local revenue and public safety The ordinance's passage may be seen as aligning with the interests of Parx Casino, which contributes significant revenue to Bensalem Township and Bucks County. As a Category 2 casino - meaning a standalone establishment - Parx remits 2% of its gross revenue from slot machines, table games, and sports betting to the local government. In the 2023-24 fiscal year, this amounted to over $11.7 million, including $7.5 million from slots, $3.9 million from table games, and $337,000 from sports betting. Parx Casino's opposition to skill games is well-known. In June, Greenwood Gaming and Entertainment, Parx's parent company, announced it would pause plans to build a hotel on the casino property, citing concerns over the proliferation of skill games and their potential impact on future revenue. Marc Oppenheimer, chief marketing officer at Parx, explained, "Until we have greater clarity on (the regulation of skill games), we weren't comfortable making a nine-figure investment." Instead, Parx opted to purchase and refurbish the nearby Inn at Fox Chase. Bensalem's Public Safety Director, William McVey, voiced concerns over the connection between skill games and criminal incidents in the area. "We've seen a proliferation of these machines in all types of businesses, and we've also seen it welcome a criminal element," McVey stated. Law enforcement has reportedly responded to several incidents related to skill gaming over the past year, strengthening the council's resolve to limit their operation to establishments where alcohol is served, which tend to have stricter age controls and monitoring. Pushback from skill game developers Pace-O-Matic, the Georgia-based company that manufactures Pennsylvania Skill machines, expressed disappointment over the Bensalem ordinance. Through a partnership with Miele Manufacturing, a Pennsylvania firm that assembles the machines, POM has become a prominent presence in local businesses, including family-owned stores and social clubs. "Pennsylvania Skill is alarmed that Bensalem Township would pass a measure that will hurt small family-owned businesses and fraternal clubs that benefit from the supplemental revenue from skill games," said Mike Barley, a spokesperson for POM. Barley added that while the company supports efforts to remove illegal gambling machines from communities, an outright ban on legal skill games does more harm than good. POM is expected to challenge the ordinance in court, arguing that the restrictions disproportionately benefit Parx Casino and restrict small businesses from generating additional income in a struggling economy. Statewide trend against skill games Bensalem's move mirrors recent actions by the Philadelphia City Council, which passed a similar ordinance in February 2024. The increasing regulation of skill games reflects a greater statewide debate over the role and legality of such devices. As the Pennsylvania Supreme Court continues its review of skill game legality under the Pennsylvania Gaming Act, local governments appear to be preemptively limiting these devices' reach.

Hard Rock Bet Achieves Sports Betting Supremacy in Florida in Partnership with Duffy’s

Hard Rock Bet Achieves Sports Betting Supremacy in Florida in Partnership with Duffy’s

Hard Rock Bet is known for its partnerships with different brands - and now, it has just announced its newest partnership with popular sports bar, Duffy's. Hard Rock Bet has truly monopolized sports betting in Florida, being the only sports bettor allowed to operate in the state. With its partnership with Duffy's, there will be exclusive arrangements that players can be a part of. Hard Rock Bet, Florida's sole legal online sportsbook, has partnered with Duffy's Sports Grill, one of the state's beloved sports bars, to amplify sports betting in Florida. This collaboration designates Duffy's as an Official Game Day Partner of Hard Rock Bet, bringing unique fan experiences to Duffy's 30 locations across the Sunshine State. A notable partnership between two popular brands Announced Thursday, the partnership unites two iconic Florida brands: Hard Rock Bet, owned by the Seminole Tribe of Florida, and Duffy's, a sports-centric restaurant chain with nearly four decades of history. Known for its lively game-day atmosphere, countless flat-screen TVs, and all-day two-for-one drink specials available every day, Duffy's has become a favored destination for sports enthusiasts across Florida. Its reputation for wings, burgers, and draft selections adds more to its status as a gathering spot for fans seeking a vibrant communal experience. "With a communal sports atmosphere and the passionate fandom of its loyal MVPs, Duffy's Sports Grill is a perfect complement to Hard Rock Bet," said Nick Menas, Head of Partnerships at Hard Rock Bet. He adds that they are thrilled to roll with Duffy's as an official game day partner and look forward to driving player engagement and loyalty at their 30 locations in Florida. This alliance aims to merge Duffy's legendary game-day experience with the ease of Hard Rock Bet's online betting platform, allowing fans to enhance their watch parties with an engaging, interactive sports betting element. During major live sporting events, Duffy's locations will host exclusive in-person experiences that integrate seamlessly with Hard Rock Bet's mobile platform, delivering an immersive game-day experience for patrons. Florida's only legal sportsbook The Seminole Tribe achieved a monopoly on sports betting in Florida through a Class III compact signed with Governor Ron DeSantis in 2021. Although the arrangement faced significant legal opposition, particularly over the issue of whether online bets could be considered legal when placed off tribal land, the compact ultimately prevailed in court. A series of legal battles, including a rejected appeal by the US Supreme Court, affirmed that the Seminole Tribe could offer online sports betting through Hard Rock Bet, as long as their servers operated on tribal land. Hard Rock Bet resumed its online sports betting services in Florida on the 7th of November, 2023, after these legal challenges were resolved. As the sole provider of legal online sports betting in Florida, the sportsbook benefits from an exclusive position but continues to invest in partnerships to strengthen its presence and appeal. Hard Rock Bet's growing sponsorship portfolio Hard Rock Bet has been actively expanding its visibility through strategic partnerships and high-profile sponsorships. For instance, in September, it became the Official Sportsbook of the Jacksonville Jaguars, one of Florida's NFL teams. This deal allows Hard Rock Bet to feature Jaguars branding in its marketing and offer fans select experiences at EverBank Stadium, the team's home ground. The sportsbook also recently launched a commercial campaign featuring rap superstar Post Malone. With the campaign's title, "Roll With Us," it airs in several states, including Florida, and aims to boost awareness of Hard Rock Bet's mobile betting services across the nation. The collaboration with Duffy's is another step in Hard Rock Bet's strategy to foster a community-driven approach to sports betting. By bringing its digital betting app into the social and interactive environment of Duffy's Sports Grill, Hard Rock Bet is offering fans a streamlined way to engage with the game and make bets, turning each visit to Duffy's into an opportunity for fans to enjoy a unique sports entertainment experience.

Paolo Banchero Builds MVP Odds with Heated Performances

Paolo Banchero has been making impressive performances for the 2024-25 season, and is now showing himself to be a prime candidate for the MVP award this year. Three seasons in, Paolo Banchero has been the elite performer that many fans have been looking forward to this season with his elite scoring bursts to begin the season. The Orlando Magic are riding on his back for some impressive action, and it seems that he is also coming up with some rise on the MVP odds as well. Four games into the season Banchero has already notched a 50-point game of his own, bringing the uproar of his big game with the way he has sparked the first few fixtures of the season. If you are not impressed, Banchero has already broken through 100 points, thanks to his 50-point performance against the Indiana Pacers. At this point, the Magic can expect more from Banchero as he continues to put up impressive numbers in the early stretch of the season. With the best night of his career in the books, one can say that Banchero is on the pace for something bigger – the MVP award. That is something that isn’t impossible at this point in time. A Career Night to Remember Banchero led the Orlando Magic to pull off a 119-115 comeback win – and it was a game filled with impressive numbers as the 50-ball game proved to be more historic than many people can expect. For starters, Banchero tied the most points for a Magic player in a half at 37 points, and his 50 points would wind up as the fifth-highest scoring effort in Magic history. On top of that, the 2023 Kia Rookie of the Year and 2024 All-Star also became the second player in the history of the NBA to score 50 or more points, 10 or more rebounds and five or more assists in a game before turning 22. That says a lot about how his game has continuously evolved with the way the Magic has also become a promising contender in the season. “Man, I’m tired. I’m tired as hell,” Banchero said after the first 50-point effort in the NBA this season. “But it was a hell of a game. Felt like I was in an open gym, back at home, just working on my game. Every shot felt like it was going in and it’s a good feeling when you’ve got a day like that. Not every game is going to be like that, but I’m glad today was.” Historic Night Brings Good Odds Banchero’s 50-point outing marks the seventh 50-plus-point night in the history of the Orlando Magic, and the first since Tracy McGrady’s 62 points in 2004 against the Wizards. Banchero joins legendary names in Magic history in that regard, such as McGrady (four times), Shaquille O’Neal, and Nick Anderson. Entering the night, Banchero’s previous career-high in points was 43, set last January against Sacramento. As of the time of writing, Banchero is also set at no. 10 in the overall 2024-25 MVP odds, with his numbers ranging from +3,000 to +5,000. While there are certainly bigger candidates ahead of him, one can expect that Banchero will keep building his case as the season goes on with the way his game is on the rise. Considering the fact that the Orlando Magic are also expected to make a deep playoff run this season, bettors should consider placing some fun wagers on him and the team. If you are keen to try it, make sure to get a grasp of your potential winnings by using GambleSpot’s Parlay and Odds Calculator to know your possible prize should your bet unfold.

McDavid Injury Expected to Drop Chances for Oilers

McDavid Injury Expected to Drop Chances for Oilers

The Edmonton Oilers may be in for some tough stretches in the coming weeks after lead star Connor McDavid walked off their recent loss with a lower-body injury. Seeing their worst start in a season in years, the Edmonton Oilers may have just found themselves in a tough position with Connor McDavid now out with a lower-body injury. At the same time, the Oilers went on to drop that same game where McDavid ended up injured with a 6-1 loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets at the Nationwide Arena. It does seem hard for the Oilers to lose a key star in McDavid, who was a spectacular performer in the Stanley Cup Final last season. They nearly pulled off an 0-3 comeback against the Florida Panthers and dropped the series in seven games. It does seem that McDavid’s absence will also see some drop in their chances of winning in the next set of games. For now, Oilers fans can hope for the best and expect to see some major adjustments for the squad. With the way they are playing right now, Edmonton does not need an absent time from its captain and lead star player now more than ever, and they can only pray that McDavid will not miss too many games and return to his competitive form right away. The Injury Play McDavid went on to be an aggressive star to begin the game after winning the face-off. However, in just 37 seconds of action, the Oilers star was out of commission for the game after he got tripped up by Blue Jackets defenseman Zach Werenski while McDavid was trying to cut his way into the offensive zone. That incident would see McDavid sent into the right boards, although landing awkwardly and badly as the play stopped early. The Blue Jackets defenseman claimed that there was nothing intentional there and said that he was just reaching for the puck when he might have nicked McDavid in the play. McDavid would not return for the whole game after that, and the Oilers would not come up with more than one goal in the game as the Blue Jackets controlled the game and dropped six goals of their own as they cruised past Edmonton. That was a statement – and proof that the Oilers actually need more boost for their offensive woes. Not a Great Start At this point, it can be said that the Oilers are fading away, faster than a bullet fired from afar. Edmonton has lost three of their last five games, and it cannot be denied that the team is really struggling to make it work this season. Whatever magic they had in the previous season, it is long gone – and it is certainly not working well with McDavid not present and out with an injury. As it stands, the team now has a 4-5-1 record, 13th in the West. That is not a good sign for the team at this point, and with McDavid set to be re-evaluated in the coming weekend, it does seem that their chances are getting trimmed now more than ever. The Oilers did not provide a timeline in his status, leaving the severity of his injury on an uncertain note. “It's tough, anytime you are playing without your best player, but it’s something that’s hopefully short term," Knoblauch said. "Obviously, our team is going to look different. Maybe that's one, two games." Still, one can say that the Oilers are still far from the “panic mode” that the critics expect them to be right now. But with McDavid injured, the odds for the Oilers to win in their game this Sunday against the Calgary Flames and the home game against the New Jersey Devils are quite on the fence moving forward, and that says a lot about the impact of missing their captain.

Renovation of Ellis Island in Las Vegas Underway

Renovation of Ellis Island in Las Vegas Underway

Ellis Island Casino & Hotel, once known as a dive bar in Vegas, is undergoing a much-awaited renovation. The property will receive a facelift and will feature an expanded gaming floor, a new bar, a new rooftop and event space, and a pit area. Ellis Island Casino Hotel is shaking off its 'dive' reputation with a sweeping $35 million renovation, bringing a polished, modern aesthetic to one of Las Vegas's longstanding family-owned properties. The first official renderings, released Monday, showcase a fresh new look that veers away from its former image of dive bars, $5 blackjack tables, and casual barbecue joints. The new Ellis Island aims for a look more aligned with top-tier resorts like Wynn Resorts than its earlier reputation as a budget-friendly local favorite. Originally opened as the Village Pub in 1968 by Frank Ellis Jr., Ellis Island evolved into a full-scale casino in 1973 under the ownership of Frank's son, Gary Ellis. Over the years, it earned a reputation as a casual and affordable spot for locals and tourists seeking straightforward dining and budget-friendly gaming options. This latest renovation is the most significant overhaul in the property's 56-year history. The initial reactions to the renderings shared on social media underscore the community's mixed feelings. Twitter user @lizzie3420552 commented, "It's no longer the little dump with cheap and good food," highlighting the shift away from its classic charm. Others were more lighthearted about the update. "As) long as steak and eggs stay at $9, they can do anything they want lol," joked user @picazo_198. A visionary transformation: what's changing? The property's facelift includes a significant expansion of the gaming area, extending it out to Koval Lane, with more than 250 new slot machines and an additional gaming pit area planned. Central to the new layout is a redesigned casino bar, set to be a focal point of the upgraded floor. A rooftop bar and event space will also be added, providing guests with scenic views and a versatile space for entertainment and private events. The existing casino floor, Village Pub & Cafe, and its ever-popular karaoke lounge will all see substantial upgrades, blending the property's legacy with modern design elements. According to Vice President of Development Christina Ellis, daughter of Gary Ellis, the renovations are intended to elevate the guest experience while staying true to the values that have made Ellis Island a beloved fixture on Koval Lane. "We are very excited to have this project underway," Ellis said in a press release. "The city is growing, and we are eager to expand our offerings while staying true to what has kept us a staple on Koval Lane for 56 years, with great value dining, gaming, and amenities." Staying true to its roots Despite the comprehensive upgrades, the Ellis family is keen to preserve what has endeared the casino to its loyal patrons. Known for offering some of the best-value meals on the Strip, such as their famed $9 steak and eggs, Ellis Island Casino has built a reputation on affordable dining options, a rarity among casinos in a city often associated with high prices and luxury. Christina Ellis's statements suggest that while the aesthetics and facilities will evolve, the commitment to accessible, high-value dining and entertainment will remain at the core of Ellis Island's identity. While no official timeline has been announced for the completion of the renovations, anticipation is building as locals and visitors alike look forward to the revamped venue. Some regulars express hope that Ellis Island will keep its signature offerings intact, even with the upscale changes. A new chapter for a classic Las Vegas icon The $35 million investment marks a new era for Ellis Island, aiming to balance tradition with transformation. The casino's decision to step up its game with a refined, high-end feel is a testament to Las Vegas's dynamic market, where properties continuously evolve to meet changing expectations while also preserving their unique character. This renovation signals that Ellis Island Casino Hotel is ready to compete with the city's more luxurious options, all while keeping its welcoming charm and value at the forefront.

New Variant of Dragon Link Slot Game Released by Aristocrat Makes Debut in Vegas

A whole new variation of the immensely popular Dragon Link slot game has entered the Las Vegas slot scene this year at the Palazzo and the Venetian. The maximum jackpot prize of the Dragon Link variants is $2 million. Aristocrat Gaming, the Australia-based gaming giant, has launched a new variation of its popular Dragon Link slot machine at two of the most iconic casinos on the Las Vegas Strip: the Venetian and the Palazzo. With a record-breaking $2 million jackpot, this high-stakes version of Dragon Link is set to attract slot enthusiasts seeking life-changing payouts. The latest Dragon Link machines are now available in the high-limit gaming salons at both casinos, elevating the stakes for patrons willing to take a spin on these next-generation machines. The debut marks the introduction of the largest jackpot yet offered by the Dragon Link series, previously capped at $1 million. Now, lucky players at the Venetian and Palazzo have the potential to walk away with double that prize. The $2 million Dragon Link slots at these luxury resorts offer two engaging themes to choose from: Dragon Link Peace and Long Life and Dragon Link Genghis Khan, both displayed on Aristocrat's MarsX Upright cabinet, a state-of-the-art platform designed for a full-on gaming experience. "Dragon Link is one of the most popular and award-winning slot games in the world," Aristocrat Gaming shared in its official announcement. "Most recently, the game was named the Top Performing Proprietary Branded Game in the 2023 EKG Awards." The arrival of the $2 million Dragon Link builds on this success, as these new machines are set to attract both dedicated fans and new players eager to experience the excitement. A pricey spin for a massive prize Although slot machines are famous for allowing players to win big from modest wagers, high-limit slots like Dragon Link with substantial jackpots require a significant financial commitment. In recent high-profile wins, players at Las Vegas casinos have had to wager thousands of dollars per spin to hit big on these machines. Earlier in the year, a lucky Caesars Palace patron won a combined $710,000 on Dragon Link machines but had to risk $2,500 per spin to win. While Aristocrat has yet to disclose the exact cost per spin for the $2 million Dragon Link machines at the Venetian and Palazzo, the placement of these games in high-limit gaming areas suggests they will cater to serious players willing to take larger risks. For comparison, lottery games like Powerball and Mega Millions only charge $2 to $5 per ticket, making high-stakes slot games a far costlier - but possibly more thrilling - betting experience. The allure of Dragon Link's slot stardom The Dragon Link series is no ordinary slot machine - it has achieved a level of recognition comparable to that of a celebrity product, such as the iPhone in the tech world. Known for its engaging gameplay, attractive themes, and substantial jackpots, Dragon Link has gained a devoted following. Slot players are drawn to its visually captivating features, smooth play mechanics, and the promise of potentially life-changing payouts. The game's popularity hasn't gone unnoticed by Aristocrat's competitors, with several rival gaming device makers attempting to emulate Dragon Link's success. However, the legal complexities around intellectual property rights in the gaming world have kept Dragon Link's competition at bay, ensuring that Aristocrat retains its advantage with this high-profile machine. With Dragon Link's reputation as an award-winning game and one of the most highly acclaimed slots globally, Aristocrat's new $2 million version is likely to be a hit. High-stakes players visiting the Venetian and Palazzo now have a unique opportunity to go for one of the Strip's biggest jackpots. Elevated gaming on the Las Vegas Strip The Venetian's High-Limit Slots Salon and the Palazzo's high-limit gaming lounge have now become hubs for slot enthusiasts eager to try their luck on these exclusive machines. For players who prefer lower-stakes versions, Dragon Link machines with more modest jackpots are also available on the main casino floors of both properties, making the experience accessible to a broader range of patrons.

Las Vegas Casino Revenue Experiences Slight Decrease for September

Las Vegas revenues for casinos on the Strip have dipped slightly in the past three months despite the volume of visitors increasing. The slight decrease can be attributed to baccarat. The popular table game, especially among Asian visitors, has reported a heavy decline of 40% in the last year. The Las Vegas Strip saw a slight downturn in casino revenue through the first nine months of 2024, marking a 0.2% decrease after September became the third straight month of declines. The Nevada Gaming Control Board's recently released report sheds light on a key culprit in the revenue dip: baccarat. The popular table game, which is known to attract a large number of Asian players, has contributed significantly to the decline in Gross Gaming Revenue on the Strip for the past three months. The NGCB's monthly GGR report for September reveals that, while gaming revenues across Nevada increased by more than 3.3% year-over-year to a total of $1.31 billion, the Las Vegas Strip's revenue fell by 1.8% down to $727.6 million. A closer look at the data reveals that baccarat performance is central to this trend, with Strip casinos reporting a substantial year-over-year drop in hold for the game. Baccarat's influence on Strip revenue Baccarat, a long-time favorite among high-rolling international visitors, has seen a particularly challenging streak. In September, the 24 Las Vegas Strip casinos offering the game reported a 40% decline compared to the previous year. While the September 2023 baccarat hold rate was around 22%, it dropped to just 17% this year, pushing Strip baccarat revenue down to $88.5 million - a near $59 million reduction from last September. "The decline is being driven by difficult hold comparisons," said Michael Lawton, senior economic analyst at the NGCB, addressing the cause of the Strip's performance issues. The hold rate measures the percentage of wagers retained by the casino after winnings are paid to players. A lower hold means that baccarat players have been luckier this year, taking a greater share of their wagers back with them. Rising revenues in other markets offset Strip declines While the Las Vegas Strip saw its baccarat takings diminish, other gaming areas in Clark County enjoyed notable revenue increases, primarily driven by slot performance. For instance, downtown Las Vegas led the way with a 33% surge in GGR, reaching $91 million. Other areas in Clark County also saw boosts: Boulder's revenue jumped by 19% and led to an increase of $80.4 million, Mesquite saw a 2% increase to $14.1 million, and the broader Clark County area grew by nearly 16% up to $156 million. Throughout the state, slot machines continued to be a strong performer, with revenues up 10% year-over-year to $896.9 million, largely offsetting the 15% decline in table games. Additionally, Nevada's sports betting scene showed a strong performance, with $80.9 million retained from the $764.6 million wagered in September, marking a 30% increase in revenue for sportsbooks. Three-month decline on the Strip The months of July, August, and September saw the Strip's GGR fall for three consecutive months, the first time this happened since 2019. With September's results, Strip revenue for the year slipped into the red, intensifying concerns about a possible slowdown in leisure travel. However, Lawton asserts that baccarat alone is largely responsible for the Strip's downturn. "When you remove baccarat from the totals, the Strip is up 3.4%, or $60.8 million, for the quarter, and the state is up 3.3%, or $114.2 million," he explained. Despite baccarat's challenges, Nevada's statewide gaming win is still showing positive growth. Through the first three quarters of the year, statewide GGR has risen by about 1.2% to approximately $11.54 billion, an increase of around $140 million. Visitor volume and hotel rates show mixed results The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority also released its visitor report for September, showing that almost 3.39 million visitors came to Las Vegas, a 1.6% increase over the same period last year. The rise in visitor numbers was mainly driven by convention attendance, which saw a remarkable 29% year-over-year increase, reaching 527,200 attendees. Despite the surge in visitors, the average room rates across the Strip and wider Las Vegas area dipped slightly by around 3%. On average, Strip rooms cost $210 per night, while other accommodations averaged $196, not including resort fees and taxes. Meanwhile, Harry Reid International Airport reported a minor 0.8% decrease in passenger traffic, with around 4.75 million arrivals and departures recorded in September.

Dodgers Pull Off 0-5 Comeback to Beat Yankees in World Series

Game Five. Down by five entering the fifth inning, and the Los Angeles Dodgers answered back with five runs to pull off the biggest comeback in a game-clincher in the World Series. The series is finally over, and now Los Angeles caps off its eighth World Series championship now more than ever. No one would have expected “five” to be the magic number for the World Series’ clinching end. It cannot be denied that the Dodgers were already poised to win it all right from the start, and one can say that they have deserved to win this after battling through many injuries, uncertainties in the middle of the season – and even some near upsets in the early parts of the playoffs. For the first time since 2020, the Dodgers have now won a title. And for the first time in 43 years, Los Angeles has now closed out a back-to-back battle against the Yankees in the World Series after beating them in the 1981 World Series. The rivalry between these two clubs is alive and well, and that is something to look out for in the years to come. A Finish Like no Other Game 5 was as ugly as it can be for the Dodgers. The Yankees started out with a lot of firepower on display, drilling three runs in the first, and one apiece in the second and third innings. The fourth was scoreless for both sides, but that allowed the Dodgers to turn its chances around. The Dodgers forced three major defensive miscues on the Yankees, eventually tying the game with five unearned runs – effectively stunning the crowd at the Yankee Stadium. Errors from Aaron Judge, Anthony Volpe, and Gerrit Cole proved to be pivotal on that end as Los Angeles got back into the game thanks to those faults by the Yankees. The Yankees would actually take back the lead in the sixth inning with a sacrifice fly from Giancarlo Stanton, but the Dodgers managed to claim the lead behind Tommy Kahnle’s closing plays and a sacrifice fly from Mookie Betts. In summary, the Dodgers just managed to seal the deal with an unprecedented comeback mostly thanks to the Yankees. A Freeman MVP Finish Freddie Freeman was named the World Series MVP for his spectacular performances in the battles against the Dodgers. He finished with four home runs, 12 RBI, and hit at .300 in the contests. He nailed the first walk-off grand slam in the history of the World Series in Game 1, and he would go on to come up clutch in Game Five as well to help the Dodgers pull off this dreamt victory for a long time. The Los Angeles slugger was a blazing hot performer in the World Series. It was not expected of him to begin with his injuries limiting him to short minutes in the NLDS and NLCS. However, it seemed that he would not miss it all in the World Series now more than ever. This was also Freeman’s fourth straight All-Star season, and at the age of 35, he just helped the Dodgers clinch a much needed victory to cap off their campaign in the World Series. With the season now over, expect that the Dodgers will remain as the heavy pick to look out for as a favorite to win in the next World Series, and they are certainly coming into the next campaign even better with an invigorated goal of dominating the biggest stage of the MLB.
