Chris Jones Remains Confident in Chiefs Chances of Three-Peat

As the Kansas City Chiefs return to training camp, it seems that the team’s confidence is at an all-time high considering how the team now shifts its eyes towards claiming a three-peat that has been rumored to be the new groove in the NFL with the team winning back-to-back Super Bowl runs. For Chris Jones, this kind of confidence runs along for the whole team at this point in time.

After an eventful 2023 campaign that left Jones as the richest interior defensive linesman in the game, the 30-year-old now believes that this offseason has been quite the mind games for the team considering how well they are preparing for a promising campaign that will see them rewarded with undeniable glory in the game if they are successful.

Jones believes that Kansas City has what it takes to win, and it cannot be denied that this confidence comes from the spark of hype that the team has enjoyed as soon as they won the Super Bowl last February, showing how well they are able to beat contenders from time to time with almost the same roster one year after another.

Jones enters the coming season after a promising campaign that led him to finish as an All-Pro, where he produced 0.5 sacks, 39 QB pressures, 29 QB hits and 13 tackles for loss in 2023. For those who don’t know, Jones just led the youngest defensive unit in the NFL to yet another Super Bowl run, which speaks volumes to the impact that he brings into the game at this point.

"I think the core values of the team," Jones said. "Be humble, stay hungry and I think that's the core value of every year. Coming in humble and hungry, you know, it's a new year and new beginning. We have a new team. Last year's team was successful in accomplishing the overall goal of winning a championship. This year it's all about new challenges. We have a lot of new guys and a lot of new challenges ahead of us and we are excited for it."

Alperen Sengun Makes a Big Comparison Between the NBA and in Europe

Alperen Sengun has enjoyed a breakout season in the 2023-24 season, and it cannot be denied that he has seen the massive difference on how basketball is played in the NBA and in Europe, claiming that there is a profound and unique way that both platforms engage in the sport at different levels.

Sengun has spent the last three seasons in the NBA with the Houston Rockets, where he has developed into a rising star in the game. So far, his observations have been quite detailed right from the coaching all the way to the different approaches that makes basketball an even more loveable game for a lot of players.

The Turkish big man has enjoyed a promising outing in his time in the Olympic qualifiers, which has made him learn about the way Europe takes on the game at a bigger level. This says a lot about how he is truly still on the development path of his game at this point, and that makes him more fun to watch as he seeks to come back stronger for the Rockets in the next season.

Comparing Two Brands of Basketball

Sengun spoke as to how basketball is different in the NBA and in Europe, and the big man specified how coaching itself is a whole new ordeal aside from playing the game. Under coach Zeljko Obradovic, Sengun was able to identify a lot of key points that makes basketball unique on both ends of the floor.

“Two different styles. In Europe, coaches are crazy. They shout and yell. In America, there is no such thing. Because the players in America are of very high quality, for example, LeBron’s coach or Curry’s coach cannot shout at them. The player would say, ‘Who are you?’ In the NBA, the players are stronger,” Sengun said.

He even claimed that it is harder to score in Europe than it is to drop points in the NBA, which is something that fellow European players such as Luka Doncic and Nikola Jokic have claimed in their games in comparison to playing in their respective countries. Sengun backed the same claim that has been there over the years, and he even went on to stress the fact that American basketball offers more set plays compared to Europe, which leads to less free-flowing scoring.

Future with Houston

Sengun’s managers are currently working it out with the Houston Rockets’ management with a new deal with the hopes of getting him to stay with the team for the next year albeit with a bigger salary. The 16th pick of the 2021 NBA Draft is expected to stay with the team after a promising season cut short by his injuries late in the 2023-24 season.

“We are waiting. My managers are negotiating with them. I don’t become a free agent next year. This year, teams can’t make offers to me,” said Sengun about his future with Houston. “Next year, other teams can make offers. They can offer a maximum of four-year contracts, but my team, Houston, can offer me a five-year contract. Next year, I could get four-year offers worth $180 million, $200 million. Those will be the prices. This year, Houston doesn’t have to sign with me, but if they don’t, those offers will come next year.”

In the 2023-24 season, Sengun upped his stats at a high level in 63 games, averaging 21.1 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per game while also shooting 53.7% from the field. Many have compared his game to the modern flexible centers in the game such as Nikola Jokic and Domantas Sabonis, who arguably have the same playstyle at this point.

Horse Racing Event Relocates from Ruidoso Downs to Albuquerque Due to Flash Flood

July 23, 2024, El Paso, Texas (KTSM) - Ruidoso Downs Race Track and Casino is set to relocate to Albuquerque for the remainder of this year's racing season after flash flooding on Saturday, July 21st ruined a portion of the building, according to a video statement released by general manager Rick Baugh.

The rest of the meet will move to the Downs of Albuquerque but will still be run as a Ruidoso Downs meet. The move is due to flooding that compromised bridges and culverts at Ruidoso Downs. Despite the heartbreak, New Mexico’s horse racing industry is uniting to help.

“This area has never experienced this kind of flooding. You can’t beat Mother Nature. You just can’t,” Baugh said in a statement. Baugh that he and his staff remain optimistic that horse racing will return to Ruidoso Downs come 2025.

Environmental Disasters in New Mexico

This summer, the Ruidoso region has had two significant wildfires on June 15 and July 10, which were followed by flooding. The surrounding terrain was severely damaged by the fires, which made the flooding that resulted from the intense rains worse. Local communities and horse racing operations have been badly damaged by these natural disasters.

Albies & Fried Out for Braves After Injury in Cardinals Loss

Just when you think the season could not be really great for the Atlanta Braves’ hopes of a title run, the team is now expecting to see both Max Fried and Ozzie Albies out from their rotation after both players have suffered injuries that would definitely hamper their chances of winning in the game.

Atlanta has been gunning for the top spot in the NL East, with only a promising lead over the New York Mets and a big climb to pass the Philadelphia Phillies. Considering that the team has found ways to win in the past few weeks, losing both Albies and Fried might just actually dent their chances of winning. This is definitely a massive loss that will see them struggle to come up with a promising pace to keep their spot on the National League playoffs.

Last winning a title in 2021, the Atlanta Braves have made big runs in the previous seasons to deliver a run at the top of the league once more, which says a lot about their loss of Albies and Fried, which is definitely going to be quite a stretch with the way the second half of the season is headed for a different look.

Injuries on a Tough Stretch

Timing can be impeccable. And that can go on different ways with either the Braves clearly missing out their two stars for at least 15 days, which should definitely bring their winning chances to a lower rate. Atlanta has already placed Max Fried on the 15-day injury list with a left forearm neuritis. On the other hand, Ozzie Albies left the game against the St. Louis Cardinals with an injury on his left wrist.

Following post-game checkups, Albies was revealed to have suffered a fractured left wrist. He is expected to miss a total of eight weeks after he tried to tag out Michael Siani when the latter collided with his glove hand. The star quickly walked off the field with the rest of the team staff and did not return to the game. Braves catcher Travis d’Arnaud saw the whole ordeal as he made the throw to second after trying to nab Siani.

“The throw was up the second base line a little bit and Albies went to reach for the ball and the runner was there,” d’Arnaud said. “Right away he grabbed his hand or his wrist or whatever it was. It didn’t look good. I tried to walk out there and see if he was alright, but obviously it wasn’t good. He knew. He was walking off the field right away.”

Loss at the Wrong Time

The Braves didn’t just lose two of its key players in the game, they also lost their clash against the St. Louis Cardinals in a 6-2 affair. Atlanta scored only in the third and fifth inning, and it cannot be denied that losing both Albies and Fried proved to be quite an impactful factor in the game. Alec Burleson and Paul Goldschmidt even had homers in the game, which says a lot about the poor outing by the rest of the squad in the loss.

This is a tough break for the Braves, who lost two of their top stars in a crucial time when the club is thriving at the top of the league with their best-level performances. But who knows, maybe both players can return in time while the Braves hold the line to secure a playoff spot. That all remains to be seen as the season progresses with the Braves trying to make the most of their chances.

Many people expected for Inter Miami to cool off in their winning strides after Lionel Messi went out with an injury a few weeks ago, and yet it seems that the club is on its way to continue winning more games after they defeated the Chicago Fire without the Argentine star in a 2-1 affair that has set them as the top point club in the season en route to the Leagues Cup.

Considering how Miami FC looked like before they actually acquired Messi, it did seem that the squad would have a lot of struggles to begin with. However, the squad is full of hope as they enter the break at the top of the league and hopefully, Messi recovers before the takes on the next challenge at hand. It seems that Inter Miami is definitely locked in towards a league title at this point in time, and not even injuries to their top star is going to stop them.

As of the time of writing, Inter Miami is four points ahead of LA Galaxy, five points up on Cincinnati, and 10 points ahead of crew. That says a lot about the potential chance of the team getting to the deeper campaign that they have always been looking for after that victory against the Chicago Fire.

A Stretch of Confidence for Inter Miami

Before their 6-1 loss to Cincinnati, Inter Miami has been unbeaten in five games in a row, and they even ended their campaign on a high note by winning the last two games, 3-1 vs Toronto and 2-1 vs Chicago, which means that the team has definitely clicked well even with Lionel Messi out of the picture. So far, there has been quite the confidence for the team at this point, and it cannot be denied that the team has clearly managed to thrive.

The depth is clearly promising. They still have Sergio Busquets and Yannick Bright to anchor the rest of the team, and that says a lot about how the team is clearly suited for a championship now more than ever. Miami’s hopes of a title are very much alive, and at this point, one can even say that there is more to expect from the team as they continue to play at a high level compared to their previous seasons now more than ever.

No Messi, No Problem

Well, with Lionel Messi out of the picture, it was expected that Miami would struggle to come up with elite scoring and outright lose to one of the lowly teams in the league. The story was quite the contrary yesterday as Inter Miami went on to detonate over Chicago. Matias Rojas scored a goal six minutes into the game to get Miami a 1-0 lead. It took Chicago a lot of time to respond, coming up with a tying goal in the 73rd minute, only to be answered by Jordi Alba’s game-winner two minutes later.

Miami looked like its usual self in the game. They went two for nine of their shots on target and completed 87% of their passes. They nearly controlled the whole game with their prowess in the passing lanes while their defense has been stellar in forcing Chicago to just five shots on target out of 14 attempts.

With Messi, Miami has been an unstoppable juggernaut on the offensive end. But with the star out with a ligament injury in his right ankle, it seems that Miami FC will have to try and wade the challenging waters of the MLS and beyond without him. From the looks of it, it does seem that they aren’t even struggling, but more of thriving instead.

“There’s a lot of high-end players, elite players on the team, and just an unbelievable opportunity for me and my family to go do something else on our own,” Guentzel said. “It’s going to be fun for us. It’s going to be different, it’s going to be challenging, but it’s going to be something that we’re looking forward to.”

It is a new team for Guentzel, and it is also both a new division and an opportunity for him. Last year was a different picture with his injury and later being traded to a different team. Now this time with the Lightning can actually be a promising note for his run, especially as he hopes to click with the rest of the team and pull off a championship campaign.

The championship experience comes in handy for the Lightning considering that they need Guentzel to replace the veteran leadership that Stamkos had for the team. Teen from Britain Arrested in Apparent Hacking of MGM Resorts International

A teenager from Britain was arrested for his alleged role in a hacking incident involving MGM Resorts International and other major companies, along with a seizure of all his devices. Cybercrime chief states that a lot of cyber groups do this to extort money, but adds that the crime is "simply not worth it."

In a significant breakthrough in the ongoing fight against cybercrime, a teenager in Walsall in England was apprehended for his alleged involvement in hacking activities targeting major organizations, including MGM Resorts International. Authorities revealed the arrest on Thursday, charging the unnamed accused with blackmail, along with violations of the UK Computer Misuse Act.

The teenager allegedly used ransomware to gain unauthorized access to computer networks, although it remains unclear whether he was directly involved in the notorious hacking incident against MGM Resorts last September.

Digital devices seized

During a search of the teen's home, police seized various digital gadgets and devices that will undergo more extensive forensic testing. Following his arrest, the suspect was released on bail. The investigation was, in fact, a collaborative effort involving the FBI, the UK National Crime Agency, and the West Midlands Police, with significant support from the Regional Organized Crime Unit for the West Midlands Region. Walsall is in the West Midlands, UK.

"These cyber groups have targeted well-known organizations with ransomware and have successfully extorted significant amounts of money from multiple victims worldwide," Detective Inspector Hinesh Mehta from ROCUWM stated. He added that they want to send a clear message that they will find cyber criminals and issued a warning, saying, "It's simply not worth it." He also describes the investigation as a "complex inquiry stretching overseas to America."

The assistant director of the FBI’s Cyber Division, Bryan Vorndran, added, "The FBI, in coordination with its partners, will continue to relentlessly pursue malicious actors who target American companies, no matter where they may be located or how sophisticated their techniques are."

In a separate statement, MGM Resorts acknowledged their role in aiding law enforcement. It said that it had assisted law enforcement in locating - and arresting - one of the alleged criminals responsible for the cyberattack against MGM Resorts and many others. "We know first-hand the damage these criminals can do, and the importance of working with law enforcement to fight back. By voluntarily shutting down our systems, refusing to pay a ransom, and working with law enforcement on their investigation and response, the message to criminals was clear: it's not worth it."

Microsoft also issued a stern warning to cybercriminals, stating, "There will be consequences for your actions. As this outcome shows, we have a greater impact when we come together to fight cybercrime."

Previous cybercrime arrests

This recent arrest follows the apprehension of a 22-year-old UK national last month in Spain, who is accused of playing a major role in the hacking of MGM Resorts. The suspect is allegedly linked to the Scattered Spider group of hackers and is also believed to have hacked Caesars Entertainment and other high-profile companies. Reports from the media have identified him as "tylerb" or "Tyler," with Krebs on Security (a tech security publication) naming him as Tyler Buchanan from Dundee in Scotland. His identity is yet to be confirmed, and the specific charges against him remain unclear.

But it seems that 'Tyler' was arrested while boarding a plane from Palma, Spain, to Italy, according to Murcia Today, a Spanish news source. He has also been linked to the theft of a total of $27 million in Bitcoin from corporate and business accounts.

In January, another individual, Noah Urban, who is also a teen, was arrested in Florida in connection to high-profile hacking activities by Scattered Spider. Urban, also referred to by the alias "King Bob" faces many charges, including wire fraud, conspiracy to commit wire fraud, and aggravated identity theft.

A major technology outage has caused significant disruptions across various industries worldwide. On Friday, airplanes were grounded, banking services were interrupted, and TV stations went offline following a widespread failure of Microsoft 365 systems, leading to chaos on a global scale.

The root cause of the issue appears to be linked to a software update error from the cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike, based in Austin, Texas. This malfunction has resulted in the delay of over 1,000 flights and has affected public transportation systems globally as well.

Casinos and sportsbooks affected

The outage has also impacted online sportsbooks and land-based casinos. On Thursday night, guests at Green Valley Ranch Casino in Henderson, Nevada, stated that all slot machines were out of service - every single one of them. As a matter of fact, casino staff had to manually cash out players, resulting in long queues and delays.

Las Vegas Locally, a Vegas-based newspaper, reported on X that "casino computer systems are crashing all over town." Meanwhile, an X user shared images from South Point Casino, also in Nevada, showing TV monitors displaying the infamous "blue screen of death."

Even the mammoth betting company in Australia, TAB, related a complete halt in both its online and land-based services due to the massive system failure. Sportsbet, TAB’s competitor, faced similar issues. "We're facing a total blackout," a TAB unofficial spokesperson told The Sydney Morning Herald. The insider added that the outage has impacted both their online and retail operations, putting TAB in the same predicament as many other companies across the globe.

No quick solution in sight?

Contrary to reports, the outage is not believed to be the result of foul play in any way. The issue is reportedly linked to the 'Falcon sensor' of CrowdStrike, which is designed to monitor the security of large systems and networks of personal computers. A vast majority of security experts also suggest that fixing the problem is not as straightforward as it seems, as it requires manual intervention on each computer, likely causing ongoing disruptions through the coming days.

Meanwhile, Microsoft 365 stated on X that the organization was "working on rerouting the impacted traffic to alternate systems to alleviate impact in a more expedient fashion" and further noted the impact remains a positive trend in service availability.

The impact on the financial markets was immediately apparent. For instance, shares on CrowdStrike plummeted by 21% at the beginning of pre-market trade. Microsoft shares also declined, along with stocks related to travel and leisure, as investors projected continued disruptions to flights right at the peak of the summer holiday season in the US as in most parts of the globe.

CrowdStrike was quick to address the widespread outage early Friday, with a software update issued to fix the issue. CEO George Kurtz apologized for the disruption, confirming normal operations had resumed. The update, necessary for affected computers, was installed automatically by many users.

Companies like the New Hampshire Department of Safety, whose 911 system briefly went down, reported being back online last Friday. However, some systems still require manual intervention, which means these organizations and companies may have to reboot every single affected computer. But Kutz stated that many customers are rebooting successfully, and they will continue working with those whose systems aren’t recovering automatically. Full restoration may take some time, but it will happen, he added.

July 19th Mega Millions Results: Winning Numbers Announced, Jackpot at $279 Million

July 22, 2024 – Friday night’s winning numbers were 10, 17, 23, 50, and 67, Mega Ball 3 with a Multiplier at 2x. Drawn after 11 pm ET, the estimated total jackpot is now $279 million. The lottery states that a winning player may get a lump sum payment after taxes that is estimated to be worth $131.1 million cash out.
