After topping the AFC last season and nearly punching a ticket to the Super Bowl, the Baltimore Ravens are nowhere near that same form as they were in as the team continues to struggle to come up with consistent wins and are dangerously on the verge of missing the playoffs if they do not play their best football in the final four weeks of the 2024 season.
Suffice to say, the last four weeks of the NFL season has proven to be one of the defining moments in the league every campaign. It is the pace where teams turn up the ante and start playing like they are in a championship game – seriously chasing a win after another in the hopes of securing a ticket to the playoff stage by the end of the campaign.
Well, the Ravens have now found themselves in that position now more than ever, and it does seem that they will need to see more of those big performances if they are going to make the most of their chances. Four games to go – and all are must-win games, so expect a promising stretch filled with intense performances, not just from the Ravens, but also the various teams in the league gunning for a playoff spot.
A Stretch to Remember
The Ravens have been one of the hottest teams in the league heading into the season, and yet it’s been a disappointing run for them so far. Considering the fact that they have been in dire need of a promising push to the top, the final four games does seem to bring them to an alert level of play – with a sense of urgency.
For starters, the Chiefs and Bills are already clinched for the playoffs – these two rivals for the Ravens are already sure for the postseason. The Ravens, on the other hand, will have to beat the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Houston Texans, the Los Angeles Chargers, and the Denver Broncos for the final spots of the playoffs.
Let’s not forget the fact that the Ravens are actually in a three-way tie with the Chargers and the Broncos with all three teams sharing an 8-5 record. Thanks to wins against both teams, however, Baltimore owns a tiebreaker – which supports the 97% chance that it will push through the playoffs per Next Gen Stats probabilities.
The Season Starts Today
Now four weeks left into the football action it does seem that head coach John Harbaugh has seen enough and has his team put things into perspective – see the positives and embrace the challenge now more than ever. After all, everything seems to be on the line for the Ravens, and there’s no better time for them to get back on the winning track.
"This is the season; it kind of begins now," coach John Harbaugh said of the team’s focus heading into the next set of games. "The season is important to determine the important outcomes for the rest of the way -- that's what we're focused on. We'll be focusing on this game, putting everything we've got into it, and then we'll go from there."
This has been a rollercoaster season for the Ravens. They will have to bring everything they’ve got if they are going to come up with a win, and this certainly says a lot about how it is expected for them to end – a fight to the finish to secure a playoff spot with their big season on the line.
