The Baltimore Ravens secured its eighth win of the season after scoring a 30-23 victory against the Los Angeles Chargers as they rallied behind Lamar Jackson’s MVP performance to finish strong, showing that they are still on the contender pace for the season after a turbulent start to the 2024 campaign.

Jackson was consistent from start to finish, and he did not slow down when it mattered most for the Ravens as he managed to score two big touchdowns to lead the way. They were coming off a poor loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in their conference showdown, and they definitely responded with a bang in this victory against LA.

The win could not be more timely for Baltimore as they now gear up to battle a fiery contender from the other side next week in the Philadelphia Eagles, who are second in the NFC with a 9-2 record and are winners of seven games in a row so far. This just says a lot about the blazing showdown that is coming in hot next week.

Jackson’s Showtime

Lamar Jackson finished with 16-27 on his passes, earning 177 passing yards and two clutch touchdowns to lead the Ravens in a much-needed victory. The NFL’s leading MVP candidate has been really promising to watch this season as he tries to lift the Ravens in what has been quite a shocking season full of struggles after finishing first in the AFC last campaign.

At this point, Jackson is still one of the hot picks to win the MVP in the season and may well be poised to repeat after winning in 2023. Buffalo Bills’ Josh Allen now has the best odds of +125 as of the time of writing, while Jackson lags behind with the second-best odds of +190. Jackson will need to help the Ravens pile up more wins and continue making a climb to the top of the AFC if he is going to make a much stronger case for the MVP.

So far, this elite performance from Jackson is definitely going to earn him some praise after that rough game against the Steelers. It is expected, however, that Jackson will continue to bring the same energy and level of play when he comes to lead Baltimore in its hyped showdown against the Philadelphia Eagles for next week’s slate.

By the Numbers

Baltimore filled the stat sheet with all of its impressive performances behind Jackson’s lead. The team amassed a total of 389 yards to LA’s 285, and most of it came from the rushing game that Jackson, Justin Tucker, and Justice Hill had to lead the department. Baltimore also allowed only one sack for the whole game, showing how their attacking game has grown to a different level at this point, and it has certainly paid off well right now.

It was clearly all Chargers in the first half, but it was Jackson’s heroics that have allowed them to stay afloat in the contest with his clutch passing and touchdowns. The Ravens would later turn up the volume in the second half as they held Los Angeles to just 10 points in total in two quarters, all while sparking their way up to a 30-point total.

Derrick Henry was also spectacular in the rushing side, amassing 140 yards in total to help the Ravens carry out a promising spark on the offensive end. At this point, it cannot be denied that he has now adjusted his game with Baltimore’s playbook, and it is certainly paying off now more than ever.
