The Philadelphia Eagles have beaten their rivals, and they have claimed their 10th win in a row – all thanks to Jalen Hurts’ MVP-caliber performance. So far, this has been a fun season for the Eagles to watch, who have now improved to 12-2 after the win and have been on a massive tear with just a few games left to play.

Despite the loss, the Steelers punch their ticket to the playoffs, but what’s crucial for the Eagles is that they are now on-par with the Detroit Lions – who hold a tiebreaker over Philly to keep hold of the top spot of the NFC so far. This puts them also in a tie with the second-best record in the league, with the 13-1 Kansas City Chiefs still being the best as of the time of writing.

At first, the Eagles were quite struggling to keep itself at the upper echelon of the NFC with the Vikings thriving. But after winning 10 games in a row, it does seem that there are a lot of expectations for the Eagles after they have kept themselves on the attack for a stretch this long.

Hurts Making a Case for the MVP?

Jalen Hurts wasn’t really in the MVP radar this season, especially with a lot of elite performances from the top five MVP picks this year so far, and it cannot be denied that this big game, however, does put him in the spotlight – which is something that many fans should consider at this point, especially with the way he is leading the charge for the Eagles.

Hurts finished with 290 yards on two touchdowns – while also completing 25 of his 32 passes. He certainly outdueled Russell Wilson, who finished 14-22 on 128 yards and a touchdown for the Steelers. Hurts’ big game would actually come handy for the team as Saquon Barkley struggled mightily to earn yards, finishing with just 19 carries on 65 yards.

On top of that, Barkley did not score any touchdowns at all, which just means that Hurts’ big plays in the game really carried them to a wire-to-wire victory from start to finish, even building an early 10-3 lead in the first before adding more to their tally in the later quarters without much hassle.

Silencing the Critics

Last week, the Eagles managed to clinch its ninth straight win, but with Hurts only throwing for 108 yards and even 118 in the previous game before that against the Baltimore Ravens. So when the Steelers focused its defense on Barkley instead, Hurts capitalized on this opportunity and made it easy for him to rack up scores on the passing lanes.

“The scrutiny is never ending,” Hurts said on Sunday night after the Eagles won their 10th consecutive game. “It’s nothing new, so that’s something that I find a thrill in, and I appreciate being told I can’t and that we can’t. There’s multiple ways to win, and that was kind of where we learned today. We were able to find ways to make plays and execute and finish in the end zone and find a way to win.”

Philadelphia now sets its eyes on its next clash with the Washington Commanders, who are seeking a chance to climb the upper parts of the NFC and make it to the playoffs. The Eagles will then play the Dallas Cowboys next before finally facing the New York Giants for their season finale.
