There’s been a shift in the change of pace for the New York Jets as they have now brought in Justin Fields in the hopes of coming up with a bigger and better chance to deliver a strong campaign after the end of the Aaron Rodgers era. However, it seems that there’s indeed bigger confidence in this one as they hope to bring a change of fortune in their games now more than ever.
From his impressive strides with the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Chicago Bears, Justin Fields is now slated to take a different path in his career as he joins the New York Jets – who have eyed him as the replacement for Aaron Rodgers, who is now more likely to join the Pittsburgh Steelers, especially after Russell Wilson was signed by the New York Giants last week.
Fields has been one of the best players in the league, but has been lacking of winning experience now more than ever. But with his new starting job in the New York Jets now at hand, it is expected that the former Bears QB will be able to prove his worth on the big stage and show that he is definitely one of the deserving stars who should be recognized for his impressive level of play.
A New Chance for the Jets
Poised for a great season in New York, Fields certainly has a lot of confidence heading into his campaign with the hopes of putting up a promising run that will elevate the level of play for the Jets in the coming season. So far, even Jets head coach Aaron Glenn believes that there is a promising note on the star QB’s hope for the chance to prove his worth on the big stage.
"He has a quiet confidence about himself," Glenn said about how Fields will play a huge role in leading the Jets to success. "He can really throw the deep ball really, really well. Obviously, his legs are something that's dynamic not just in college but the NFL as well. I just think he's ready to break out as a top-notch quarterback. So, he's going to do everything he can to be one of the better ones and we are going to coach our asses off to make sure he does a good job out there."
After a year of a pit stop in Pittsburgh, Fields has shown high potential in his games and has been really a great performer behind Russell Wilson missing out on key games during the season as the latter dealt with a calf injury. For starters, Fields completed a career-high 65.8% of his passes for 1,106 yards, five touchdowns and one interception.
Managing Expectations
Fields has been hyped to be one of the best rising stars in the game, and one can say that being signed to one of the stacked yet disappointing teams of last year is going to be a tall order for Fields to lead all the way to the top of the game. It can be remembered that just last season, Fields also contributed 62 rushes for 289 yards and five rushing TDs.
So what is expected from Fields at this point in time?
First of all, leadership from a star QB is what this team needs, and considering how they have a promising roster full of young talent. Glenn even stressed the fact that Fields should be able to come up with some flashy performances to put up his massive case to show his worth on the big stage.
