The Western Conference is slated to get some blazing action and fiery performances now more than ever as the Winnipeg Jets, the first seed in the West, will take on the Los Angeles Kings, who are currently ranked fourth in the West to begin the first few games of 2025. But what does a win mean for each team and even the whole Western Conference?

It has been evident that the power vacuum in the NHL has proven to be contagious as the Western Conference now has seen a lot of changes with the way the elite contenders have become quite far from the top, and new squads have entered the fray to lead the way this season – like the Jets and the Kings so far.

Both teams are inside the top five of the Western Conference – which has been proven to be one of the wild conferences of the season with the way they are playing right now. However, whoever wins this clash will have some promising power shifts in the West that will surely make the race to the top even more exciting at this point in time.

Jets vs Kings: Who is Likely to Win?

In their first meeting this season, the Los Angeles Kings managed to steal the thunder from the Jets as they did not allow them to take off, capping a 4-1 victory back in November 2024. So far, the Kings come as a favorite to win in the game, and it cannot be denied that the odds may well be shifting fast as the game approaches.

For starters, the Jets have been one of the teams that are coming off a losing streak. The first seed suffered tough losses to the Colorado Avalanche, Anaheim Ducks, and the Detroit Red Wings in the previous week before finally coming back strong in a win against the Predators last Tuesday. Now they are seeking to continue this winning track – against the Kings.

The Kings, on the other hand, have won four in a row prior to their clash with the Calgary Flames yesterday. They have managed to become one of the surprise rising teams in the West – although they did make it to the playoffs last season. Now the team is building off that same success and is making a lot of promising strides and will likely continue to cruise as a contender this season.

Winning Impact in the West

The Western Conference has been a beast for most of the season, and it does seem that there are a lot of changes should any of these two teams win respectively. For instance, the Jets could add to its point tally and keep the Vegas Golden Knights at bay, who are just a win behind for that end. A loss, however, would see them fall down to the fourth seed at most.

On the other hand, the Kings winning a game could help them move up to the standings once more and make a dash for the top two at the very least. A loss, however, would solidify the Edmonton Oilers’ climb in the top four. This means that there are a lot of talks as to how the game would impact the upper echelon of the Western Conference, which just means that there are high stakes involved in this end with the way there will be fiery performances from the top stars now more than ever.
