Free Train Rides, Tolls in Pennsylvania and New Jersey Courtesy of FanDuel
Just in time for the holidays: FanDuel announces free train rides on select systems in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, and free tolls will be given on December 18 to those who are traversing the Atlantic City Expressway. Specifically, those who are taking the train on the same day on board the PATH train that connects Newark, New Jersey to New York City's Hoboken area will get free rides, same with those driving a vehicle on the Atlantic City Expressway.
FanDuel, a known leader in sports betting and online gaming, is spreading holiday cheer by sponsoring an entire day of public transportation fares and highway tolls and later on in the month. On December 18, commuters in New Jersey and Pennsylvania can enjoy complimentary rides and toll coverage, courtesy of FanDuel.
The initiative includes free rides on the Port Authority Trans-Hudson train system, or PATH, which connects Newark and Hoboken, New Jersey, to New York City. Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority's Broad Street "B" Line in Philadelphia will also offer free rides during designated hours. Additionally, motorists passing on the Pleasantville Toll Plaza on the Atlantic City Expressway will find their tolls waived for the day.
This holiday promotion marks a continued investment by FanDuel in its brand, as the company seeks to engage new and existing customers through innovative campaigns.
FanDuel's vision for the holiday season
Daniele Phillips, the vice president of marketing for FanDuel, expressed the company's enthusiasm for the promotion. "This exciting FanDuel Casino opportunity represents a continued investment in our casino brand and the opportunity to engage new and existing customers with content and experiences that excite customers," Phillips said.
"As part of our ongoing brand campaign, we're here to show people nothing beats the feeling of winning on FanDuel Casino, though a lot of great feelings come close, like scoring a free ride or toll for the day," Phillips added.
The promotion is open to all commuters and drivers, regardless of whether they are FanDuel customers. Tolls on the Atlantic City Expressway will be covered all day, while free PATH rides will run from 8 pm to 11 pm, and SEPTA’s Broad Street Line will offer free fares from 6 pm to midnight.
A holiday gift with a strategic twist
FanDuel's generosity aligns with the season of giving, coming just a week prior to Christmas during the final rush of holiday shopping. While the gesture is a welcome relief for commuters, it also doubles as a strategic marketing effort aimed at increasing account signups.
FanDuel has seen significant success in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, where it operates both online casinos and sportsbooks. In New Jersey alone, FanDuel Casino generated approximately $408.6 million in gross gaming revenue during the first 10 months of this year. This performance ranks it as the second most successful iGaming operator in the state, trailing only DraftKings, which reported $421.5 million in GGR over the same period.
In Pennsylvania, the online casino operations of FanDuel, licensed through partnerships with Live! Casino Philadelphia and Valley Forge Casino Resort, reported GGR of $522.5 million during the state's 2023 to 2024 fiscal year.
FanDuel's sports betting arm has also been thriving. Its online sportsbook in New York led the market with $635.9 million in revenue from April through November 2024, maintaining its position as a top player in the largest sports betting state in the country.
December 18 savings breakdown
The financial benefits of the FanDuel promotion are modest but meaningful for commuters and motorists. A single vehicle passing through the Pleasantville Toll Plaza on the Atlantic City Expressway saves $1.40, with higher savings for multi-axle vehicles.
PATH train fares typically start at $2.75 per ride, while rides on SEPTA's Broad Street Line begin at $2.50. These small but impactful savings offer a tangible benefit to travelers during the holiday season.
FanDuel's holiday outreach
By covering transit and toll costs, FanDuel appears as a customer-focused brand while tapping into the busy holiday travel period to raise awareness of its offerings. As the company continues to lead in online gaming and sports betting markets, promotions like these serve as an effective tool to deepen customer engagement and expand its user base.
For commuters in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, December 18 promises a smoother and more cost-effective journey - one that might just inspire a few to try their luck with FanDuel.
