The Kansas City Chiefs didn’t see much of a big stride in their games back in that humiliating loss at the Super Bowl LIX, where the two-time defending champions didn’t see much daylight that they didn’t score a field goal until the third quarter. However, DeAndre Hopkins says that he’s not done just yet and seeks to play more years.

Joining the Chiefs back in 2024 after being traded by the Tennessee Titans in the midseason, Hopkins has been adamant that he would be getting a chance to become a Super Bowl winner by joining the heavy favorites to win it all. While they have managed to come up with a generational collapse like no other, the wide receiver is still keen to play more games in the coming years.

Hopkins had a promising season for the Chiefs in 2024, and it would have been a massive year to remember considering how well he played for the team but could not cap it off with a Super Bowl championship. The Chiefs’ WR, however, has been keen on showing that he can still play at a high level and intends to return for 2025.

A Hope for Hopkins

DeAndre Hopkins is definitely not calling it a career just yet at this point in time, and it does seem that there are many expectations for him to stay on the attack with the hopes of pulling off yet another Super Bowl run. At the age of 32, the Kansas City Chiefs’ wide receiver has been exceptional in his receiving game, and it cannot be denied that he still has a lot of strong games left in him.

In just 10 games in the regular season for the Chiefs, Hopkins has managed to generate a total of 41 receptions and tally 437 yards on four touchdowns – despite having a poor start to his Chiefs stint. On the road to the Super Bowl LIX, however, Hopkins’ brilliance looked like it waned over time, going for just one reception and 11 yards in the tight AFC Championship Game.

"Don't know what you heard but I'm not done yet," Hopkins said of the Super Bowl finish, where the Chiefs ultimately looked depleted when it mattered most. "I feel the same after every loss, but obviously this one has a little bit more meaning - the Super Bowl - I feel bad."

In his first Super Bowl appearance, Hopkins nailed two big catches for 18 yards, finding the end zone in their unlikely comeback as the Chiefs could not answer against the blazing offense and defense of the Philadelphia Eagles, who would go on to prevent the Chiefs from accomplishing a feat of three Super Bowl championships in a row.

Hopkins scored a touchdown in the fourth quarter with 2:54 left in the game after he caught a seven-yard pass from Patrick Mahomes to give the Chiefs a boost in an already losing game.

Different Place for Hopkins?

There are talks that while Hopkins will be returning to the 2025 season, there is still a matter of “where”. Rumors claim that the Chiefs may no longer be interested in bringing back Hopkins for another year despite a promising year for a 12-year veteran. Still, he could prove to be a pivotal piece for any other team that may need his services.

A return to Houston, for starters, may well be in the mix after the Texans suffered massive hits with injuries to their WR corps last season. Both veterans Stefon Diggs and Robert Woods are slated to enter free agency, while their young stud in Tank Dell is set to brace for a long recovery road after he suffered a tough knee injury late in the season.
