The offseason drama continues for the Dallas Cowboys at this point as the Pro Bowl wide receiver CeeDee Lamb is still not satisfied with the way the management has handled his hopes of a contract extension, which says a lot about the fact that he is still aiming to play with the team but hopes to get a bigger pay in the long run.

With the rest of the Cowboys headed to Oxnard, California, it does seem that CeeDee Lamb wants to be assured of a new deal before he steps into the new campaign with the squad. There have been reports of talks between Lamb’s agents and the club’s representatives working out a new deal, but it seems that no official extension has been agreed on both sides yet.

There’s still a lot to consider heading into the season for the Cowboys’ hopes of winning, and it cannot be denied that the team is seeking to earn its chance at the top of the league after a dismal season that saw them end up with a lowly finish in the game. And Lamb definitely wants to play a huge role in their coming campaign now more than ever.

Holding Out on the Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys know well how to handle this kind of situations – considering that this is not the first time that they have experienced a player holding out on them in the middle of a crucial stretch in training camp. In Lamb’s case, this is a long-time stalemate between the best receiver in the game and the team that brought him in.

At the age of 25, Lamb will be missing out on the mandatory minicamp and workouts, and he will be also subject to daily fines on that matter. Considering that Lamb did not board the team plane bound for California, it seems that he will be another holdout for the team that they will have to deal with.

Holding out makes a lot of sense for Lamb at this point. In an offseason where a lot of elite WR players have splashed some promising and lucrative extensions, it is a no-brainer that Lamb himself would want to get a piece of what he’s earned. Some of the huge extensions made this summer for WR players are the likes of he Minnesota Vikings' Justin Jefferson, the Philadelphia Eagles' A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith, and the Detroit Lions' Amon-Ra St. Brown.

Lamb Among the Cowboys

Lamb has stood out in his terrific 2023 season with the Cowboys. He is coming off a promising Pro Bowl season – a third year in a row – where he also earned his All-Pro accolade after coming up with a career-high 135 receptions along with 1,749 yards and 12 touchdowns. That spark of consistency from Lamb says a lot about his impressive game and the way he has thrived with the Cowboys at this point in time.

It is also evident that Lamb is in line to enjoy a new deal with the team, considering that he, Dak Prescott, and Micah Parsons are also on the verge of entering mega-extensions with the team soon enough, which makes sense for Lamb to hold out on the team.

Lamb also joins both Ezekiel Elliot and Zack Martin, who have both issued holdouts against the Cowboys over the years. But now it seems that Dallas will need to come up with bigger strides in their games if they are going to stay as an elite contender in the years to come.
