Buddy Hield is slated to play for the Golden State Warriors en route to the 2024-25 season as he seeks to earn his spot as a reliable sharpshooter and a potential starter after the team lost Klay Thompson in free agency. The former Philadelphia 76ers guard says that he is excited to play for the Warriors this coming season, saying it has been his dream over the years.

In eight years in the NBA, Hield has played for a total of five teams, including the Warriors. He has been jumping from team to team, mainly staying with the Sacramento Kings and the Indiana Pacers for most of his career. Now that he is slated to play for the Warriors, and it does seem that fans can expect more from him as he replaces a promising roster spot in the team.

With the Warriors falling from grace and the Dubs Dynasty officially over, it does seem that fans can expect to see Hield try to impress and earn his way to the top of the rotation and hopefully become a rising star at most, and that says a lot about how his dream is definitely going to unfold at this point.

A Dream in the Making

Hield was traded by the Philadelphia 76ers in a transaction that involved a total of six teams for the first time. This saw the guard sent to Golden State, where he claims that he has been hoping to actually play for the Warriors in a long time. It can be noted that Hield was drafted into the NBA in the 2016 season – which was the height of the Warriors’ dynasty and the same run where they finished with the NBA-best 73-9 record.

“I’d just known for years that the Warriors was a team I’d always wanted to play for,” Hield said. “The way they move the ball, they’re always in championship-caliber mode. And just to learn from guys like Steph, and Draymond, and Steve, and Andrew, because I admire the way they approach the game, and I just want to be a part of that, and see what it’s like to be on this side.”

Now that he is a Warrior, it seems that Hield can actually make the most of his chances and deliver a promising performance in years.

What Does Hield Offer to the Warriors?

Hield is one of the best shooters in the game. He almost has a total of 2,000 threes made in his career — already 22nd all-time in league history. In 32 games with the Sixers, Hield averaged 12.2 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 3.0 assists. What is promising is his shooting percentages, with 42.6% from the field and 38.9% from three, which makes him a key addition to the Warriors at this point in time.

Joining a team that has multiple experienced players and impressive players who have won multiple titles like Stephen Curry and Draymond Green clearly says a lot about how Hield fits well with the team. At this point, the odds are not in the favor of the Warriors, but it does seem that adding Hield will definitely increase their chances moving forward, especially with the fact that the Western Conference is starting to become a competitive atmosphere with a lot of contenders rising up and joining the hype.
