Josh Allen isn’t that fazed about Sean McDermott, and claims he’s extremely confident with his coach even after a tough AFC Championship loss to the Chiefs.

Another year, another playoff exit for the Buffalo Bills at the hands of their AFC rivals, the Kansas City Chiefs. This has definitely sent some doubts about how Josh Allen’s future with the Bills isn’t really that bright – or how head coach Sean McDermott is unable to lead them to the golden path of a championship over the years.

That has been the common story about Allen and McDermott so far, who have been a phenomenal combo in the regular season but still a huge question mark in the postseason. Sunday’s AFC Championship loss has just dropped them to 0-4 in all playoff games against Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs, and it is starting to rile up disappointing notions so far.

Kansas City’s victory has been somewhat celebrated so much that we ignore the wonder season that the Bills have enjoyed. Well, that’s what happens when a magical season ends in a tough, disappointing and frustrating loss that could have been a different ending otherwise. But however Josh Allen is seeing more confidence in McDermott, that is a massive story that has left many critics dumbfounded so far.

An Expected Ending to an Unexpected Season

Believe it or not, McDermott just led the Buffalo Bills to one of its best seasons ever. Despite the loss to the Chiefs, the coach has done a great job to revamp both its defense and offense – even getting younger on both sides. That is rare for a team that has won the AFC East and would end up in the AFC Championship Game as well.

Sure, Allen would get all the credit with his MVP-esque campaign that he has enjoyed for most of the season, but the Bills truly outperformed themselves and showed a massive growth than expected. And Allen believes that his coach also deserves to be recognized for his elite work with such a talented squad.

"I'm just so proud of coach," Allen said, via the team's official website. "I don't know why he's not recognized more in the awards stuff. … Time in and time out, he's got us in position. ... He gives his life to this. ... And to see him adapt and really grow as a coach has been fun to watch."

The Bills ended the season with a 13-4-0 record, the second best team in the AFC, and still the top dog to beat in the AFC East. They even managed to beat reigning MVP Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens, which says a lot about how they have really evolved into a massive contender to look out for over the years – under McDermott’s lead.

A Promising Run Under McDermott

Despite all the talk that the Bills are just another leap away from beating the Chiefs to become the new leaders of the AFC, McDermott has enjoyed massive success in his service as the Buffalo coach, dating back to the 2017 NFL season.

In those eight years, Buffalo went on to reach seven playoff appearances, three of those ending in a Divisional Playoffs appearance, and two at the AFC Championship. Despite the losses, it is still a massive feat to be able to guide such a team in a rugged AFC, where teams such as the Ravens, Steelers, Texans, and Broncos reside.

Losing makes up a great learning experience, and Allen is confident that McDermott will put his mastermind to work once more and try to figure out a way to win against the Chiefs and finally see themselves a return to the Super Bowl stage for the first time since 1993.
