Why Should Jalen Williams be Your Pick for First-Time All-Stars?

If there’s one player deserving to become a first-time All-Star this season, there’s no doubt that Jalen Williams fits the bill. Oklahoma City has a treasure trove of talents this season so far, and it does seem that he is slated for a chance to make a debut in the coming 2025 NBA All-Star Game, but can he actually make the cut this time around?
Believe it or not, the hype is even bigger for Jalen Williams to come up with a debut in the coming All-Star game, and many fans can say that he’s been really making his presence felt in the league at this point in time, making him one of the best options to consider to become an All-Star. We have seen him make big strides for the Thunder this year, and even in the past few years as well – which says a lot about how he deserves recognition for his big game.

Williams, more known as Jdub, has been really making some interesting strides for the Thunder so far, and his game is just growing in his third year with the team considering how he has emerged as OKC’s second scoring option and still manages to shine bright when it matters. In fact, many teams are envious of Jdub being in a team that is already composed of young stars – such as Chet Holmgren, which adds more to the value that he brings to the table at this point in time.
But does Williams have a case for an All-Star debut? Well, his stats can speak for his plea.
| Points per Game | Rebounds per Game | Assists per Game | Field Goal Percentage |
| 21.7 | 5.9 | 5.1 | 49.4% |
Jalen Williams has been efficient in his games this season, and his stats have definitely made a leap compared to his year one and year two stat lines, which says a lot about how this is really quite a strong argument to consider if you are seriously leaning to wager on Jdub’s chances to become an all-star.
The Thunder are winning big this season so far as one of the best teams in the league and even a top pick to win the NBA Finals this year. Williams is a huge part of that, and that adds more value to his case as a promising star. But of course, it would all come down to the fan voting, and he’s likely not gonna make that – but for the reserves, there’s definitely a chance for him.
Williams is one of the best young rising stars in the NBA, no doubt, but we have to consider the fact that the Western Conference is a beast – it is full of stars and talents that have already dominated the league for years. Names such as LeBron James, Nikola Jokic, Anthony Davis, Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, James Harden, and even Shai Gilgeous-Alexander are all likely to be ahead of him in the voting, which just means that there’s a huge chance that he might miss out on that end as well.
But, for Jdub to become an all-star, one can see the three factors that will likely affect his chances of getting into a debut in San Francisco this February:
As said before, Williams is a player who plays the second stick with Gilgeous-Alexander, who is coming off a terrific 2023-24 season where he became a first-time starter in the West and also finished second to the MVP voting. At this point, one can say that Jdub’s chances are quite reliant on how he blends well with SGA as the second string scorer for OKC. So far, he has been able to make impressive offensive strides when the defense doubles on his co-star, which makes it easy for Jdub to generate opportunities on the offensive end. His win shares have been quite the story, and one can say that there is indeed more to expect from him as he strives to perform at a high level for OKC.

Jdub is one of the best players in the game when it comes to playing at both ends of the floor. Like Gilgeous-Alexander, Williams is an elite defender as well as an elite shot creator, and that means a lot about how he has emerged as a threat for all teams out there. Williams is capable of creating his own shot and even coming up with a good offensive play by finding his teammates, most notably Holmgren or even Isaiah Hartenstein. But what adds more to his resume is the strong defensive presence he offers for OKC. As one of the best defensive teams in the league, OKC relies on Williams and its other guards to disrupt passing lanes and come up with impressive steals that leads to easy offensive looks for the Thunder.

While Willams has been shining bright in his own right, it is worth noting that the OKC guard isn’t really making much bigger hype compared to the likes of Victor Wembanyama, Cade Cunningham, Evan Mobley, Tyler Herro, and the list goes on. So, unless Williams goes on a Super Saiyan mode and comes up with a string of 30-point games from this point onwards, it is easy to say that he may not have a big case for the all-star ahead of the mentioned names. But if you like to play it smart, you can always check your potential winnings when you bet on parlays with GambleSpot’s Parlay and Odds Calculator when you wager on multiple players to become all-stars.

At this point, it is hard to be certain of Williams’ chances to become an All-Star this season, and one can say that the factors above will play a huge role on his chances to make it to San Francisco. Now more than ever, we have to expect that he will be trying to make a winning case for the Thunder to also make a strong argument for his bid for the All-Star.
