The MLS Conference Finals stage is set, and now it is time to see which of the remaining four contenders has the best shot to win it all in the MLS Cup Final? The best have fallen, and there have been a lot of twists and turns that proved to be quite a problem. At this point, we are all expecting to see the wildest and grandest action now more than ever, and it is going down for real.
MLS Cup 2024: The Story so Far
The 2024 MLS Cup has been filled with a lot of shocking performances, both from the top-tier teams and contenders, and even the underdog teams that weren’t even supposed to be there to begin with. Now more than ever, the story of upsets has been really quite rampant in the MLS, and this just says a lot about how the rest of the tournament is expected to go.
Initially, Inter Miami was expected to go all out in the MLS Cup – hyped as the golden run for Lionel Messi – who has been phenomenal all-season long and has been really promising for his case. However, it would go on to be a disappointing finish for the team as Miami would then be eliminated by Atlanta United – in three games – with the final game in front of their own fans. Now that is a complete shocker.
But what if I told you that there was even a much more complicated finish among MLS teams?
Columbus Crew has enjoyed a massive season as a contender – winning the Leagues Cup and coming up with a massive bang in the Eastern Conference. However, the new and improved Crew was defeated in the first round in just two games, which says a lot about the massive expectation that proved to be really shocking as they lost in penalties in the second and final game.
And lastly, LAFC – which was hyped to be the main contender after Inter Miami was eliminated – also got knocked out in the semis at the hands of the Seattle Sounders – being taken down in a 2-1 clash that proved to be pivotal in their campaign. Now more than ever, the last favorite standing among the previous contenders is the LA Galaxy, which has found a promising groove in the season and has managed to stay alive amidst all the upsets that have taken place in the previous rounds.
Which Teams Should You Bet on in the MLS Conference Finals?
The MLS Conference Finals has been one of the most promising tournaments in the season, and it cannot be denied that it is going down for real with the way the showdowns are coming up. If you are not impressed, there are a lot of talks as to how the rest of the showdowns will go down for real now more than ever. Considering the fact that there are indeed rivalry matches that are expected to turn out, one can say that this fans are in for an exciting ride to the final stages of the MLS Cup.
Here’s our predictions for the final two matches of the MLS Conference Finals:
LA Galaxy vs Seattle Sounders
Let’s not get ahead of ourselves and say that the Seattle Sounders are going to be lucky enough to knock out another LA team in the playoffs – and they could become the first in history to do so if they pull that off. LA Galaxy is the favorite to win it all in the MLS Cup with odds of +289 (before LAFC got knocked out). The Seattle Sounders? A whopping +981. These two teams have a 1-1-1 record in the 2024 season alone, with the LA Galaxy winning the latest showdown in the Leagues Cup. At this point, it is going to be a war as the Sounders have earned a lot of confidence after taking down LAFC in the West Semis, but Galaxy will be a tough team to take down, especially after that convincing 6-2 demolition of the Minnesota FC in the semis.
Our Bold GambleSpot Prediction: LA Galaxy to win by 2.5 goals
Orlando City FC vs New York Red Bulls
Orlando has been playing at a steady pace ever since they entered the playoffs, and they have won games in convincing fashion so far. Aside from that penalties win over Charlotte FC, all of their playoff wins have been a clean sheet taking down Charlotte in game 1, and then Atlanta in their semis clash. New York, on the other hand, has been really at the same pace, with two shutout victories on their hands as well. But they have taken down two contenders (defending champion Columbus Crew and 6th seed NYC FC), which says a lot about the pace in their game, at this point in time. When it comes to the head to head stats, teams have a 1-1 record against each other, splitting their season series so far. Considering the fact that Orlando is a higher seed, the odds would go their way, and it would really say a lot about expected result for this clash.
Our Bold GambleSpot Prediction: New York Red Bulls to win in penalties
