ESL One Bangkok 2024 is expected to be one of the massive stages for Dota 2 teams to converge on as this marks the final chance to make a huge leap to wrap up the year now more than ever. A total of 12 teams will be joining on the competition, but which ones will come up with the biggest glory to close out their 2024 run with a bang and a trophy on top of it all?
What’s at Stake in the ESL One Bangkok 2024
While it is not as prestigious like the Majors that many fans are hyped to see, ESL One Bangkok 2024 still packs a promising punch in its stakes with a prize pool of $1 million up for grabs. At this point, all 12 participating teams are guaranteed to walk by the end of the competition with at least $25,000 in winnings. The champions, however, will end up crushing the lion’s share of the prize pool of $300,000.
Here’s the prize pool for the ESL One Bangkok 2024:
- 1st: $300,000
- 2nd: $175,000
- 3rd: $120,000
- 4th: $85,000
- 5th-6th: $57,500
- 7th-8th: $85,000
- 9th-10th: $30,000
- 11th-12th: $25,000
If that isn’t enough for you to stir up some bets in the coming competition, the participating teams will not just be battling for the cash prize alone or even the bragging rights of winning a tournament before the year ends – there’s also a whopping total of 20,940 EPT to be up for grabs, which will guarantee invites for teams that perform well at the top of all the future ESL events.
Tournament Format
ESL One Bangkok 2024 is slated to feature two stages of competitive action in the games. The tournament kicks off with the Group Stage from December 9th to 11th, which will be broadcasted online and having the teams split into two groups of six squads each. They will be competing in a best-of-two matches in a single round-robin format.
The top two teams from both groups will be guaranteed a ticket to the upper bracket of the playoffs, while the third and fourth placed teams will have to begin their playoff campaigns in the lower bracket. The bottom two teams in each group will be eliminated. This will then be followed by the actual playoff stage, where a double-elimination bracket is used with all matches now set for a best-of-three clash save for the Grand Final phase, which will feature a best-of-five series instead.
Top Teams to Look Out for in ESL One Bangkok 2024
ESL One Bangkok 2024 is filled with a lot of competitive teams to look out for, but not all 12 teams have the best chances of winning it all in the tournament. Given how the season has induced wear and tear among players and teams after a very lengthy campaign that included the first run at the Esports World Cup, it seems that there are only a handful of teams that can actually find their way to the top of the league.
Here are the top five teams that you should consider placing wagers on in the ESL One Bangkok 2024:
Team Liquid
The Western Europe powerhouse has been one of the most dominant teams over the years, and it cannot be denied that they are coming into this competition with a much more promising picture on their chances of winning after putting up strong performances in the previous tournaments. As a fan favorite for ESL One Bangkok 2024, it cannot be denied that Liquid’s supremacy in map control will definitely tilt the odds into their favor now more than ever, and it will certainly play a huge role in their chances of winning it all.
Team Liquid Roster:
- Michael “miCKe” Vu (Carry)
- Nisha “Nisha” Nishiyenko (Mid)
- Ludwig “zai” Wåhlberg (Offlane)
- Samuel “Boxi” Svahn (Soft Support)
- Aydin “iNSaNiA” Sarkohi (Hard Support)
Nigma Galaxy
ESL One Bangkok 2024 has its own underdogs too, but it can be quite confusing why Nigma Galaxy is labeled as one considering how this team is stacked with a lot of seasoned talent that has been making a lot of promising waves in the season. Considering the fact that their previous games have been quite turbulent, one can say that Nigma Galaxy is expected to come up with a bigger pace in the coming tournament – probably the one campaign where they will finally shake off their struggles and come up with a winning run.
Nigma Galaxy Roster:
- Amer “Miracle-” Al-Barkawi (Carry)
- Syed Sumail “SumaiL” Hassan (Mid)
- Tony “No!ob” Assaf (Offlane)
- Omar “OmaR” Moughrabi (Soft Support)
- Maroun “GH” Merhej (Hard Support)
Shopify Rebellion
The monsters of the North American Dota 2 scene, it does seem that Shopify Rebellion has always been able to make a strong case for itself as one of the top contenders to look out for in almost every Dota 2 tournament. Considering the fact that the team is topped off by a lot of well-known game veterans led by Arteezy, one can expect that they are going to break the notion of NA teams being unable to perform at a high level whenever they step on the international stage of the game.
Shopify Rebellion Roster:
- Artour “Arteezy” Babaev (Carry)
- Abed “Abed” Azel L. Yusop (Mid)
- Jonáš “SabeRLight-” Volek (Offlane)
- Andreas “Cr1t-” Nielsen (Soft Support)
- Tal “Fly” Aizik (Hard Support)
BOOM Esports
If there’s one team that will be fun to watch for the entirety of the competition (assuming that they can find their way to the rest of the playoffs), BOOM Esports is going to have the home crowd advantage on their hands. This just means that they will definitely feed off the energy of the crowd – adding the sixth man to their roster in just the best time possible. Now more than ever, the representatives of the SEA region will have to brace for the big expectations on their hands as well, and this is the best time for them to shine.
BOOM Esports Roster:
- Souliya “JaCkky” Khoomphetsavong (Carry)
- Mc Nicholson “Mac” Villanueva (Mid)
- Saieful “Fbz” Ilham (Offlane)
- Timothy “TIMS” Randrup (Soft Support)
- Jaunuel “Jaunuel” Arcilla (Hard Support)
PuckChamp
Another underdog in the mix is PuckChamp. The team had a very inspiring campaign in their run to earning a shot in this tournament, storming through the qualifiers with ease and coming up with impressive performances night in and night out. While they have already proven themselves to be among the world’s best, winning it all in ESL One Bangkok 2024 could prove to be a pivotal run that will further cement their place in the competitive Dota 2 scene at this point in time.
PuckChamp Roster:
- Indji “Shad” Lub (Carry)
- Sukhbat “Sanctity-” Otgondavaa (Mid)
- Miroslav “BOOM” Bičan (Offlane)
- Vitaliy “QBFY” Ivanov (Soft Support)
- Oleh “Kaori” Medvedok (Hard Support)
Which Team will Dominate the ESL One Bangkok 2024?
ESL One Bangkok 2024 is expected to be one of the blazing tournaments in the esports scene that will wreak havoc among fans as their favorite teams take on the big stage. At this point, it is expected that the showdowns between all 12 teams will go down the wire, and this is what makes the tournament even more fun to watch.
