As with the previous season, there are multiple quarterbacks who are slated to have some impressive and encouraging seasons to look out for. Because they will be either praised or scrutinized for their performances, quarterbacks are going to need to bring everything they’ve got to win it all and finish strong in the season as they hope to make history in the league.
10. Justin Herbert, Los Angeles Chargers
Being unable to win a playoff game has remained a curse for Justin Herbert heading into his seventh season. That is such a bummer considering that he is one of the league’s finest – able to come up with an impressive arm game and a strong will to adjust to almost every system that the coaches bring up for him.
It can be remembered that Herbert played under Jim Harbaugh in his first season, along with offensive coordinator Greg Roman. Well, he thrived well and even proved to be a strong game manager in his own right. Still, his current antics only takes him as far as he could play in the postseason, and that’s why the goal for this year is very clear: win a playoff game at the very least.
9. Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboys
Speaking of disappointments on the postseason, Dak Prescott also is in dire need of a massive season to remember if he is going to keep his reputation as one of the best players in the league. His 2024 season was cut short due to a torn hamstring. We have seen multiple sparks of his impressive game over the years, but it just so happens that he falls short or gets injured.
So far, 2023 seems to be the best season he has enjoyed as of late. He finished 69.5% of his passes that year and came up with 4,516 yards and 36 touchdowns. Prescott may be in for some bigger expectations this season, however, as the Cowboys clearly made one of the best splashes in the market to surround him with talent that’s more capable of winning than before.
8. Jayden Daniels, Washington Commanders
There’s a reason why Jayden Daniels ranks this high despite just entering his second year – potential. It can be remembered that Daniels had one of the best seasons by a rookie all-time. He just led the previously rebuilding Commanders into an NFC Championship berth, and had it been a different opponent than the Philadelphia Eagles, it would have also been a Super Bowl Berth. Daniels did all that while barely scratching the surface of his potential in the game.
Not impressed? Well, Daniels was selected second overall and just needed a single year to fully acclimate to the game and become one of the elite performers in the league so far. He finished the year as the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year – all while leading Washington to its most wins in a regular season since 1991. Daniels also finished with 69% completed passes for a whopping 3,568 yards and 25 touchdowns, and the best is yet to come for him.
7. Baker Mayfield, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Dubbed as the next Tom Brady as he was left as the protegé of the former star quarterback, Baker Mayfield should be higher on this list as he just came off one of his career seasons, finally finding his groove again in 2023 before coming up strong in 2024 with explosive performances. The Buccaneers were, indeed, one of the fiery teams to watch thanks to his antics.
Mayfield finished 2024 with 71.4% completion rate and amassed a total of 4,500 yards on 41 touchdowns. That was enough to kick start the Bucs back into the playoff chase and come up with a very competitive finsh on the biggest stage of the game. If there’s anything to expect from the Tampa Bay star this season, it’s that he’s bound for bigger finishes by the end of the campaign.
6. Jared Goff, Detroit Lions
The last two seasons have been resurgence for Jared Goff, and everything seems to be quite the same for the Lions star as he hopes to come up with a strong finish with the team after reviving their playoff hopes in the past few years. Under offensive coordinator Ben Johnson, Goff has become a promising star to watch once more, and it is easy to say that he has found his groove well when it mattered most.
In a superior Detroit season, Goff has finished with 72% completion rate while tallying 4,629 yards and 37 touchdowns. However, there’s bigger expectations from the quarterback with Johnson now out of the picture for the team. He will now have to adjust to John Morton – the new OC for the team moving forward.
5. Joe Burrow, Cincinnati Bengals
For what it is worth, the Cincinnati Bengals aren’t that competitive enough in the previous season with all their struggles, but have certainly enjoyed the best from Joe Burrow in terms of individual stats. This is, in fact, his best season so far – recording 4,918 yards on 43 touchdowns for a stunning 70% completion rate.
Nothing has been easy for Burrow with all of the health issues that he’s encountered, but being able to thrive with Ja’Marr Chase’s triple crown run where he led the league in receptions (127), yards (1,708), and touchdowns (17). That’s damn near impressive as having an MVP campaign at this point.
4. Lamar Jackson
Easily, Lamar Jackson could have been a repeat MVP finisher had it not been for a brighter season by Josh Allen. Still, Jackson remains as the most versatile quarterback to look out for in the 2025 season – making up for a promising touchdown efficiency and strong rushing ability, proving that he can be the face of the league at this rate. At this point – he easily could come up as a great star to watch out once more.
Jackson was the leading star among all quarterbacks in touchdown percentage, and a career-high 41 touchdowns. He has also surpassed the 1,000-yard mark in 2019 and 2020, and yet, he is still yet to come up with a Super Bowl appearance – which means he is definitely overdue for a big show now more than ever.
3. Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs
Well, what would we even expect from Patrick Mahomes at this point? He fell short in the Super Bowl 2025 with a tough loss against the Philadelphia Eagles – but comes off a very tough year with the team – 3,928 yards (the first time he’s finished below 4,000 yards, along with a career-low 26 touchdowns.
Nothing has been easy for Mahomes – but we all know that he’s capable of bouncing back every time he’s fallen short of a title. There have been a lot of changes in the Chiefs’ roster so far, and that means that we can expect Mahomes to have a resurgence in the coming campaign. After all, the Chiefs remain very much a contender to look out for, and this is something to look out for.
2. Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills
Just because you’re the reigning MVP, doesn’t mean you’re the top QB to watch out for next season. However, Josh Allen has been impressive enough to be close to the top of the list. Throwing for 3,731 yards and 28 touchdowns, Allen has been a promising star with his blazing performances as he torched multiple teams with his impressive clutch plays that made him the MVP.
He has been great in maximizing designated runs that made the Buffalo offense hard to beat. On top of that, Allen was also a top player in rushing yards at 531 and 12 touchdowns – another formidable part of his skillset that was widely used in the previous season that also proved to be lethal in helping him win big.
1. Jalen Hurts, Philadelphia Eagles
Of course, it was obvious right from the start that we would be gunning with the Super Bowl-winning QB to be at the top of the list. Sure, he isn’t a prolific playmaker in the previous season as he ended up with his career-low in passes ever since becoming a full-time starter in Philly. In fact, he finished the season with just 2,903 passing yards and 18 touchdowns, barely making any signs of a great QB to begin with, especially for a Super Bowl MVP.
But that isn’t the main story. It is the ability for Hurts to commit to the running game – which was exemplary in leading the Eagles to a title finish that many fans have waited for. Hurts was at the helm of it all, and it cannot be denied that his value skyrocketed after Philadelphia proved its critics wrong.
