The Los Angeles Lakers are rumored to be making a move for a trade in the market right now, and it seems that there are now clear picks for the team as they eye to make a key trade that would give them a chance to bolster their chances for the coming NBA Playoffs – at least strengthen their hopes of winning at this point to secure a spot as well.

There have been a lot of rumors that the Lakers are keen to target a promising big man who would give them an impressive boost in their roster depth. This has been what star big man Anthony Davis has been saying all along, and it seems that they are finally making some talks to ensure that they would get a chance to prove that they can assemble a talented roster once more.

So far, the rumors claim that it would either end up as Utah Jazz’s Walker Kessler or Indiana Pacers’ Myles Turner, and it seems that it is starting to be quite a talk among many critics as to who would be a more impactful option for the Lakers as they seek to come up with a good groove in their selection for the coming months now more than ever.

A Laker Fan’s Dream

Anthony Davis has been the consistent center for the Lakers, and the next option they have is already Jaxson Hayes. However, it cannot be denied that Davis is right about addressing the Lakers’ needs for a big man at this point, and it does seem that Kessler and Turner certainly fit the bill if they are keen to make the most of their chances.

Kessler is averaging 11.3 points, 11.4 rebounds, and 2.4 blocks per game on a staggering 73% shooting from the field – leading the league so far. It cannot be denied that Kessler would look like a promising pick up for the Lakers, but it does seem that they do not have a strong collection of assets to bring him in, considering that the Jazz already owns the Lakers’ 2026 pick.

Turner, on the other hand, is likely to be a good and reasonable selection for the Lakers. Turner is having a monster season of his own, averaging 15.4 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 2.0 blocks on 47.9% shooting, including 39.3% from three. Turner not only addresses the defensive issues for the Lakers, but also expands their floor spacing with his three-point shooting.

A non-shooting big in Kessler would not mark a spacing boost. Turner, on the other hand, could mesh well with Davis and even LeBron James, providing some prolific pick-and-roll sets that would effectively boost their overall performances in the long run.

Not Hard to Find a Center

Speaking of finding a center, the Lakers once had a formidable lineup that led them to the 2020 NBA Championship. Helmed by Anthony Davis, they had a promising bruiser in Dwight Howard, and a massive defender in JaVale McGee. While McGee has already moved on, Howard, on the other hand, is hinting at a possible return.

Howard is currently on contract with the Strong Group Athletics in the Philippines, but is not ruling out a possible return to the NBA. While he had a limited role, Howard was a massive backup alongside Davis, averaging 6.2 points and 5.9 rebounds in just 16.2 minutes per game, displaying that he could still contribute at a high level despite his age.

Who knows, maybe a possible return for Dwight Howard is in place should the Lakers fail to get Kessler or Turner in the long run.
