The Arizona Diamondbacks made a splash on the big stage after rallying behind Eugenio Suarez’s impressive game that saw them flatten the Washington Nationals in a 17-0 rally to close out a promising game at Chase Field. Suarez delivered one of his most pivotal performances in ages to ensure that the D-backs would finish strong with a key win.

This has been a big night for Suarez, and it cannot be denied that his impressive game proved to be one of the highlights of the day, and that has definitely proved that he can ball out at this point.

The D-backs are currently sitting third in NL West with a 57-51 record, just half a game behind the San Diego Padres for the second spot up. This victory has given them a much-needed boost so far, and it is safe to say that Suarez is expected to get more impressive games up and running at this point.

Suarez’ Swashbuckling Show

Suarez came out swinging in this game as he proved his worth with the D-backs at this point. The third baseman filled in for Christian Walker, who was out with an oblique strain, and it was about time for Suarez to get slotted into the starting spot for the first time this season.

What better way for him to put up an impressive performance than to knock three home runs to help the Diamondbacks pull off a 17-0 victory over the Nationals. That win came off with a franchise record of 22 hits, which included seven straight during their huge run in the second inning. Suarez had four of those, which prompted the crowd to come up with a chant of his name throughout the innings.

“It made me feel very happy because I feel like I never had that earlier in this year,” Suarez said of his performance, which played a huge role in lifting the Diamondbacks to a crucial victory. “Now that I have it, feels great. It’s something that pushes me to do better every day and work hard every day to see the crowd because we play for them. It feels way different when you have crowds around and people cheering for you and I have my family here, I have my two daughters, my wife, my parents, my sister, my brother. I have everybody. And it’s even more special for me.”

Suarez’ three-homer game was the first time that the D-backs player managed to pull off that kind of game since Josh Rojas did the same in 2022. It is also the second time that Suarez has reached the marker over his decade-long career.

What’s Next for the Diamondbacks?

After closing their series with the Nationals today, the Diamondbacks now move to battle the Pittsburgh Pirates this weekend in a three-game clash that will see them bring a promising chance to climb in the rankings heading into August.

This will be followed by three-game showdowns against the Cleveland Guardians, Philadelphia Phillies, Colorado Rockies, Tampa Bay Rays, and the Miami Marlins for their next five opponents.

So far, the Diamondbacks are doing whatever they can to build on a promising space heading into the later parts of the season, which will determine their playoff chances now more than ever. For now, it is a good thing that they brought in Suarez to start, and now they can add one more guaranteed playoff riser in their rotation for good.
