As the Winter Meetings begin to take place, it does seem that the Boston Red Sox are going all-or-nothing in their stake for claiming Juan Soto and his legendary left-handed bat heading into the season. So far, this is the first time that the Red Sox will be a major player in the free agency after being silent in the past few offseasons.

It is expected that Soto will be receiving one of the most lucrative deals in the offseason. It does seem that this campaign will be a massive look for who gets to bring in one of the biggest free agents in the offseason now more than ever. If you are not impressed – it is worth noting that a hefty number of teams, such as the Los Angeles Dodgers, and the New York Mets – are all vying for Soto’s services.

At this point, Soto is the biggest name in the market, and it is expected that the Red Sox will have some serious claim in the stakes considering how much money they are prepared to offer the Yankees star for his talent in the coming season.

Race to Soto’s Talents

Soto is the most sought-after name in the free agency market right now, and at the age of 26, he is already heading for a Hall of Fame trajectory. At this point, he still has a lot to offer in his game, and it does seem that there are a lot of hope that Soto will be wearing a new uniform when the season begins.

So far, the Red Sox will have to battle two New York teams – both the Mets and the Yankees for Soto’s signature. It is also worth noting that the Toronto Blue Jays are on the same mix, as are the Dodgers – who just won the World Series earlier this year. At this point, it is driving the MLB crazy, and there are bigger expectations to look out for.

However, it is highly likely that Soto would not re-sign with the Yankees after all those losing campaigns in the past few years. The Mets are just starting to find its groove as a contender in a very tight division, while the the Blue Jays do look like a promising landing spot but remains uncertain with the future of another star in Vladimir Guerrero Jr.

This leaves the Dodgers – a contender team to look out for in the next season and set to defend its World Series title - and the Red Sox, who have every strong point to be considered as a promising team for Soto to play for.

Addressing Other Big Needs

For a team that has missed the playoffs for three years in a row, it cannot be denied that the Red Sox are in a massive and dire need of change at this point. For starters, the team needs one person to man the starting pitcher spot, and a bullpen that needs to upgrade now more than ever.

The Red Sox managed to focus on the short-term deals in the past few years and even managing the farm system well. They have saved up a lot of money on that end, and now they are ready to spend once more – this time on a big and promising star who could well engineer them to a playoff campaign now more than ever.

Whoever lands Soto will see a massive jolt in its odds, and the Red Sox are hoping to be that club when the time comes.
