BetMGM and Casino del Mar expand across Puerto Rico

BetMGM and Casino del Mar at La Concha Resort, in Puerto Rico, have announced the launch of their first satellite sportsbook at Mayagüez Resort and Casino, marking the beginning of a nationwide expansion.

The partnership between BetMGM and Casino del Mar will expand beyond San Juan, extending to new regions across Puerto Rico.

Strategy and regulatory support

According to Rolando Padua, President of Paulson Puerto Rico, the plan aims to replicate the success of the San Juan venue by establishing locations throughout the island.

The alliance, first launched three years ago, has positioned BetMGM as a leading sportsbook operator in Puerto Rico’s regulated market. This latest move reinforces Casino del Mar’s role in driving economic growth through gaming while extending access to regulated betting experiences across new regions.

Padua said the initiative will allow Puerto Ricans from multiple areas to “enjoy the same high-quality entertainment experience” offered in the capital. The partnership will continue to expand with additional satellite sportsbooks in the coming months, supported by the Puerto Rico Gaming Commission’s regulatory framework for retail and online betting.

Competitive landscape in Puerto Rico

The move comes amid broader growth in the territory’s sports-betting landscape. FanDuel has already launched a retail sportsbook in San Juan through its partnership with CAGE Puerto Rico II (CAGE Sports) at the beginning of this year.

That launch marked Puerto Rico as the 24th US state or territory where FanDuel offers mobile sports betting.

PrizePicks has also strengthened its presence in Puerto Rico after securing a local gaming license, becoming the first daily fantasy sports operator authorized to offer its services on the island. The company plans to roll out its Arena platform in the coming months, joining BetMGM and FanDuel in expanding the territory’s regulated digital gaming ecosystem in Puerto Rico.
