Aaron Rodgers Expected to Be a High-Value Free Agent in the Market

After two disappointing seasons that led to nothing at all, the New York Jets are quickly mending the problem at this point by dropping Aaron Rodgers from the squad. Now the star QB is out of a job at this point and is in dire need of a team to sign him for the coming season especially if he want a shot at redemption.
Joining the Jets in 2023 after spending his 18 legendary seasons with the Green Bay Packers, Rodgers’ pursuit of a Super Bowl win once more did not work out well so far considering that his health did not do any wonders for him as his Achilles tendon limited him in 2023 while having the 2024 season a little bit on the mid range for his game so far.
Now that he’s a free agent, it is expected that teams will be on the race to bring him in for experience in their respective squads. However, considering how fragile he has been with his injuries, it may not be what Rodgers wants to begin with as his value started high on the market but may well be plummeting fast.
Moving on From the Jets
The Jets expressed its desire to move forward on a new direction on the quarterback position, and they really did it to cut off Rodgers from the squad heading into the new season. Last year, 41-year-old threw for 3,897 yards and recorded 28 touchdown passes and 11 interceptions in 17 games.
At first, it was expected that Rodgers would be joining the team on 2025 with a revamped playoff squad. However, Rodgers simply didn’t meet any expectations for the team so far. The star QB also said that he will be taking time to ponder the future of his career, considering that he’s already in the closing stages of his run. It is also worth noting that Rodgers does not have any guaranteed money left in his contract.
I think everybody understands that it's going to come down to [the] GM and coach and myself, and whether we all want to do a dance together — or if it's not in the cards," Rodgers said. “As far as my own decision, I told them I'm going to take some time,"
Rodgers did not miss a single game last season, and yet the Jets finished 5-12, which led to the firing of both head coach Robert Saleh and GM Joe Douglas. That definitely left him with few options as the new management was hard to communicate with so far.
The Future for Rodgers
Aaron Rodgers is undeniably one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time, but he’s definitely been through a lot in recent years. His injury last season—rupturing his Achilles in the first game—raises a lot of questions about his future. But, the way he’s always pushed through injuries and proved people wrong, it wouldn’t be a surprise if he found a way to keep playing high.
“If you want to play, if there’s anything in your gut that’s telling you, man, I think I could go one more year then I would say do it,” Brett Favre said of Rodgers. “Because you can’t go back. Once you leave, that’s it. You move on. If there’s any little inkling in him that he wants to play and prove that he can still do it at a high level I would say do it.”
That said, there’s always a point where it's about the future of his health, and whether it’s worth it to continue risking further injury, especially after a major setback. However, he’ll need to have a team interested in his services if he wants to get a new chance.
