The Washington Commanders were a team that did not have playoff success in the past few years, and yet Daniels carried them to the deepest path that not many rookies could have pulled off – near a Super Bowl berth. That says a lot about the potential and his upward value right now, and it is safe to say that the rookie is expected to make a lot of noise in the next campaign.

Top Rookies to Look Out for in 2025

With the NFL Draft over a month ago, and players now adapting to the demands of the league, it is safe to evaluate which of these rookies actually has a strong potential to come up with a star-level season heading into the campaign.

Here are some of the top rookies to look out for in the NFL this year:

Abdul Carter

Carter enters the fray as a massive addition to the defensive end of the New York Giants. Despite a dismal season, one of the few positives that the team had was its defensive line, especially with Dexter Lawrence and Brian Burns helping Big Blue tie for the eighth-most sacks (45) in the league. So inserting Carter, who is a strong edge player in his own right, may well highlight his strength among his peers.

An uber-dynamic player, Carter fits well with defensive coordinator Shane Bowen’s game plan. The Penn State product was the top consensus edge rusher in the draft, and being with the Giants should help him realize his potential and take his game to a higher level.

Omarion Hampton

Odds are, Hampton would not fit with any other team save for the Los Angeles Chargers. Selected no. 22 overall, the right back offers a strong starter potential for his team – yes, even with Najee Harris entering the Bolts’ backfield – when the season begins. Young engines work best for the Chargers’ game, and so this is already looking like a win for Hampton.

Hailing from North Carolina, Hampton is in a better spot to pound the rock and be featured in most of Jim Harbaugh’s offense when the season begins. His versatility and explosive level of play truly shows that he can find ways to win, so this is expected to be his big break moving forward.

Jihaad Campbell

The fact that he was available late in the first round is definitely a sin. Campbell was the biggest steal that night and should have been in the top five to begin with. Instead, he was selected no. 31 overall by the defending champions, Philadelphia Eagles. Campbell is lauded well for being available to shift through different roles on defense, which makes him a good selection for the team.

His final season with the Crimson Tide saw him play as an off-ball linebacker, which is decent. That was until he shifted to a pass rusher later in the season, highlighting his strong potential to move from one role to another and play it at an efficient level, wreaking havoc for Alabama in that final stretch.

Tyler Booker

Be it as it may, we have to tip our hat to the Dallas Cowboys as they always find ways to snuff out the best offensive linemen in the draft. We have seen how they brought in Tyron Smith, Zack Martin, and Tyler Smith, all of which combined for 19 Pro Bowl selections. So, expect to see the same level of potential in Tyler Booker, who is another proficient Alabama product that the Cowboys hauled with the 12th pick.

At this point, it is safe to say that Booker will be rolling with the big boys on offense. What he brings to the table is his impressive and prolific skill in the game, which should certainly help out Dallas well when it comes to the run-and-pass game.

Jahdae Barron

Not sure why many teams skipped out on the Texas cornerback, but the Denver Broncos did click out well in the steal in the draft. Barron is going to pair with 2024 Defensive Player of the Year Pat Surtain II, so there’s that strong potential on the defensive end, and it is going to work well considering that the Broncos will be facing Patrick Mahomes and Justin Herbert twice a year.

Barron is going to fit in well with defensive coordinator Vance Joseph’s scheme, especially with his experience in lining up outside, as well as being a dime linebacker in Texas. If there’s a lot of skill set that he has to offer, it is going to be maximized to a whole new level.
