What to Expect in the 2025 NBA Draft
The Draft Combine has been gone and done last May, and now teams have taken the measurements, athletic tests, drills, and scrimmages into consideration. Today? It is the calm before the storm. Teams are deliberating with their respective scouts and talent managers, and it is definitely going to be one heck of a ride in selecting the best talents.
Before you say that this is greatly exaggerated, keep in mind that every great player in the NBA was scouted by the respective teams that drafted them. Of course, there are tough misses and underwhelming scouting results, but then we all know where most talents have shined bright with the teams that drafted them, to begin with.

At this point, we all know some of the essentials for this year’s Draft. Do we have to worry about Dallas picking Cooper Flagg with the first overall pick? Can the Brooklyn Nets actually make the most of the four picks that they have in the first round? Will the Sixers finally get the piece they need to get back on track for playoff contention? What does the Oklahoma City Thunder have to work with the two picks they have in the lottery?
At this point, it is expected that there’s going to be a lot of ruckus surrounding the NBA Draft, especially when the postseason noise dies down and the attention shifts to the next big thing at hand for everyone to look at.
Who Goes Where?
A gentle reminder that this is just pure predictions of which teams will be selecting heading into the 2025 NBA Draft. Of course, there are a lot of talks as to how each predicted pick is going to be turning well into reality for each team, which says a lot about how the fit and the actual player that they may end up selecting at this point.
The Cooper Flagg Dilemma

So let’s talk about the elephant in the room. Cooper Flagg is going to Dallas – unless some divine or otherworldly intervention takes place. The aftermath of the Luka Doncic trade may have just ended up being good for the Mavericks, and it seems that they can actually rebuild well off that regard with the first overall pick in the draft.
Of course, let’s not forget the fact that the Mavericks have an array of stars who are seeking titles – Anthony Davis, Kyrie Irving, and Klay Thompson when all healthy and consistent may well be a threat to consider on their own, and adding Flagg is definitely going to be a huge boost considering that the 6’7” frame and 7-foot wingspan is going to translate well in this league so far.
The Nets’ Chase
The Nets have a whopping four first-round picks to choose from, and trust me when I say this – they are definitely disappointed for a team that has struggled to win games and is still yet to come up with the most promising win in the lottery. Still, four picks in the first round are indeed going to spell some good chances for them to bring in the best talent available at that time.

Kon Kneuppel sounds to be a perfect fit to bring in first. The guard’s impressive play on the offense and high-volume shooting looks so perfect for the Nets’ dry offense. Thomas Sorber is also going to be quite a good selection to add some length for the team (although he is still recovering from a foot injury). Another impressive pick would be Yaxel Lendeborg or Rasheer Fleming, although both may end up deeper in the NBA Draft.
The Missing Piece for the Sixers

The Philadelphia 76ers have found ways to be extra disappointing despite having a lot of talent in Joel Embiid, Paul George, and Tyrese Maxey. Of course, they have found a gem in Jared McCain as well – who would have ended up as the Rookie of the Year if it wasn’t for the freak injury that cost him the honors.
Still, this coming draft is a saving grace for the team for all of its tough finishes. The Sixers are looking at a wide array of talents in the draft, such as Ace Bailey, VJ Edgecombe, Tre Johnson, Khaman Maluach, and Kon Knueppel. Out of all those potential selections, Bailey stands out the most for his natural fit with the team’s shooting guard spot and can well provide some shooting firepower to give Philly an edge.
A Thunderous Addition Incoming?

Most of the time, reigning NBA champions don’t tend to bother with the draft, especially as they are set to keep the same pieces for the next season with minimal to no adjustments at all. The 2025 NBA Finals contender, Oklahoma City Thunder, however, aren’t that kind of team. They are the ones leaning into the future, and that’s where Noa Essengue is expected to come in as one of their three selections in this year’s draft.
Essengue is a power forward from France who ideally has a strong shooting percentage and can slide into multiple positions in the game and has impressive rim protection capabilities as well. This makes him the ideal pick that the Thunder to its continuously growing arsenal of young players this offseason.
Will There be Chaos in the NBA Draft?
As the countdown to the 2025 NBA Draft continues, anticipation is at an all-time high. With so many talented prospects and teams holding multiple lottery picks, chaos is not only possible – it’s expected. Trades, surprise selections, and unexpected falls or rises are part of what makes draft night so thrilling.
While predictions and mock drafts give fans a glimpse into what might happen, the reality is that anything can unfold once the picks start coming in. One thing’s for sure: the future of the league could very well be shaped on draft night, and fans won’t want to miss a second of it.
