Sports Betting Alliance Leadership Changes

The Sports Betting Alliance added to its leadership on Thursday with a longtime veteran of the gaming industry joining its ranks.

Joe Maloney is leaving the American Gaming Association to become the president and CEO of the SBA. He was most recently the senior VP of strategic communications for the AGA.

Current SBA president Jeremy Kudon is shifting into the role of chairman.

Role of the Sports Betting Alliance

The SBA handles sports betting and online casino lobbying for its five members: bet365, BetMGM, DraftKings, Fanatics and FanDuel.

New Roles for Kudon and Maloney

Kudon will be in charge of leading the SBA and will oversee its legislative pushes across the country. He filled the role of SBA president for eight years and is “thrilled” to bring in Maloney.

“His deep understanding of gaming policy, proven leadership in public affairs, and established relationships make him an ideal leader during this crucial time for our industry,” Kudon said.

Maloney, meanwhile, will oversee the SBA’s advocacy, strategic development and its partnerships, “fostering collaboration among operators, regulators, policymakers, and other stakeholders to maximize integrity, consumer protection, and long-term market health,” according to the release.

“I’m honored to step into this role with the Sports Betting Alliance during such a critical moment for the industry,” Maloney said. “Legal, regulated sports betting and iGaming are delivering meaningful consumer protections, enhanced integrity monitoring, and economic benefits to states, bringing activity once confined to the shadows into the light.

“I look forward to working with stakeholders throughout the country to continue strengthening the industry and its long-term success.”
