Who Were the Previous All-Star MVPs?

The previous All-Star MVP was Jayson Tatum from the Boston Celtics, who delivered a sound performance of 55 points and 10 rebounds in Team Giannis’ first win over Team LeBron in years. He also surpassed Anthony Davis’ previous record of 52 points that was set back in 2017 – the last time the East vs West format was used. This just means that fans are definitely excited to see which top performer will deliver a promising game to remember once more.

On top of that, the MVPs of the previous All-Star Games have also put up massive performances in their respective winning years. 2022 All-Star MVP Stephen Curry scored 50 points in the win while also setting a record for most threes made in the game at 16, including an iconic image where he turned around even before his shot went down.

Giannis Antetokounmpo also nailed the 2021 All-Star MVP honors when he dropped 35 points on 16 of 16 shooting, including 3-3 from three with no free throws attempted. He helped Team LeBron secure a dominant victory from start to finish, which allowed him to win the MVP honors.

Who Are the Top Players Who Can Win the 2024 All-Star Game MVP?

With a lot of All-Stars ready to take on the game this weekend, it only seems fitting to have a lot of favorites on the list who are expected to put up some incredible performances on the big stage. Of course, it is not the same degree as the regular season MVP or the Finals MVP, but it is also a great feat to have the All-Star MVP added to a player’s resume at the end of the day. Who is expected to be named MVP for this year’s edition of the All-Star Game?

LeBron James

Playing in the twilight of his career, LeBron James is still a top favorite to win the All-Star MVP as he is set to captain the Western Conference for the first time in his career, and he also sets the record for the most All-Star selections with 20. The Los Angeles Lakers forward still plays at a high level at the age of 39, which explains why he is a top pick to win the MVP award by the end of the All-Star game.

James is averaging 24 points, 7.3 rebounds, 7.8 assists, and 1.3 steals per game as of the time of writing. So far, these numbers are almost the same with his championship seasons, which adds more to his case of winning the MVP award. Who knows, maybe James will put up one last golden performance before he finally retires for good.

Giannis Antetokounmpo

Giannis is having his own impressive season with a much more efficient mark. For the first time in his career, the Milwaukee Bucks star is shooting above 60% from the field while still averaging 30.8 points, 11.4 rebounds, and 6.3 assists per game. While the Bucks still has some issues to fix, Giannis has every chance to make his case for the All-Star MVP.

Antetokounmpo has already won the MVP award back in 2021, and it wouldn’t hurt for him to top that off with another award to add to his list of achievements. As the team captain of the Eastern Conference, one can expect him to be a favorite to perform at a higher level as well compared to the previous All-Star Game where he only played for just 20 seconds and just let his co-stars do the job.

Luka Doncic

In his fifth selection as an All-Star starter, Doncic is slated to play heavy minutes in the upcoming All-Star Game. While the Dallas Mavericks have struggled to come up with some wins, it seems that Doncic is enjoying his own groove this season especially with the squad upgraded by their key additions in the trade deadline. That has allowed him to take his game to the next level with the second half of the 2023-24 season coming up.

Doncic is averaging 34.3 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 9.6 assists per game while shooting a staggering 49.1% from the field. He also has tallied multiple triple-doubles this season, leading the Mavericks to a promising surge since January, and it is expected to see him shine bright on the All-Star Game with the hopes of claiming his first MVP award.

Tyrese Haliburton

As a first-time starter, it seems pretty much clear that Haliburton is representing the Indiana Pacers much the same as how Lauri Markkanen was named a starter in the previous year. Except the fact that Haliburton himself is playing at a high level, it does seem that he can pull off a spectacular performance for the Eastern Conference and earn his way to an MVP finish by the end of the game.

This season, Haliburton is averaging 21.9 points, 11.7 assists, and 3.9 rebounds per game while nearly averaging a 50/40/90 shooting splits, which shows a lot about his growth with the Pacers as the main star to look out for.

Who knows, maybe he can set the record for the assists in the All-Star Game, which is held by Magic Johnson at 22. The NBA legend set the record back in January 29, 1984. It has been a long time since someone set the record for assists in the NBA, which should help Haliburton’s case for the MVP if he manages to break the record.

Shai Gilegous-Alexander

Considering how OKC has been successful this season, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander deserves all the recognition he can get when it comes to his games. This is the first time that SGA has been selected as an All-Star starter and his second overall selection in the All-Star Game. He is also one of the top picks for this season’s MVP race for his impeccable performances in the season.

As OKC continues to impress this season, SGA has led the way with season averages of 31.1 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 5.6 assists while also leading the NBA in steals with 2.2 per game. His two-way game has been quite impressive this season, and as a starter, it is easy to expect him to get more minutes and earn his way into the All-Star MVP.

Nikola Jokic

A two-time MVP and a first-time NBA Champion and Finals MVP, Nikola Jokic has every right to dream of a chance to win the All-Star MVP this year. Selected six times since 2019, the Denver Nuggets MVP seems to be a great favorite to win the MVP award in the All-Star Game should he step up his play – which hasn’t been the case in his last five selections.

Jokic also leads the current MVP race as top candidate Joel Embiid has been declared out with an injury and will not meet the eligibility requirements for individual awards. With the Philadelphia 76ers missing out, Jokic is now the top pick to win with season averages of 26.3 points, 12.2 rebounds, and 9.0 assists per game while shooting a strong 58.2% from the field. Winning the All-Star MVP is not a priority for him, but it would be fun to watch him try for that award.

What to Expect in the 2024 All-Star Game?

The All-Star Game is set to bring out the best talents of the NBA together in one big stage this season. While it is not usually competitive like the past few editions, many fans and analysts believe that it would be a tight one as the league returns the ASG to the original format of the Eastern Conference vs the Western Conference. That is why it should also be fun to take a pick on which star has the best chance of winning the All-Star MVP award.

It also goes without saying that almost every player in the All-Star teams has a fair chance to win the MVP award. The top picks, however, are more likely to deliver a strong performance in the upcoming game and are likely to win the said award. This is why you should consider placing your wagers on your favorite player to win the All-Star MVP. Make the most of your bets now by betting on our recommended sites!
