The road to the Esports World Cup wraps up here at the DreamLeague Season 23, which is slated to fire up the big battles that will engulf the big stage. Teams will be fighting for the customary prize pool that is set in the millions of dollars, along with a coveted spot that will bring them a trip to Riyadh for a chance to compete on the big stage.
For now, the DreamLeague Season 23 is what these teams will need to win from May 20th to 26th.
What to Expect in the DreamLeague Season 23
As said before, the DreamLeague Season 23 is the final event that will close out the EPT S2 calendar. There are bigger stakes in the competition as teams will have to win big to secure a spot in the Esports World Cup. A total of 12 teams will play in the game, with the top four coming from the EPT leaderboard, while the other eight will earn its berth via the regional qualifiers.
The Group Stages will see the 12 teams split into two groups, playing in a single round-robin groups with two games each. The top two teams from each group will earn a spot in the upper bracket of the Playoffs, while the third and fourth place teams will move on to the lower-bracket of the Playoffs. On the other hand, the losing teams below them are automatically eliminated. The schedule will continue with the actual Playoff phase, where teams will now play in a double-elimination bracket with best-of-three matches, save for the Grand Final, which will be set in a best-of-five series.
The winner of the tournament will be awarded 6,000 EPT points and a lion’s share of $300,000 from the Prize Pool. The runner-up will given a consolation prize of $175,000 and 5,000 EPT points for their efforts, while the third-place team will be given $120,000 and 4,000 EPT points. The fourth placer will also receive $85,000 and 3,200 EPT points.C
Teams to Look Out for in the DreamLeague Season 23
As said before, the DreamLeague Season 23 will feature big stakes from the toughest teams on the big stage, and this means high-octane battles, blazing showdowns, rivalries reborn, and new key matchups born – all for the shot at the Esports World Cup in Riyadh. This is why the playing teams are expected to give it their all, and no one can deny that it will be like a colossal tournament to remember.
Here are the five teams that fans should consider looking out for the DreamLeague Season 23 ahead of the coming games in the fiery competition that will bring you to the edge of your seat:
Team Liquid (Boxi, Insania, Nisha, MickE, 33)
Team Liquid has established its presence as one of the rallying teams in the Western Europe scene. The team has become a prominent squad to look out for, and there’s no denying that they are now emerging as strong favorites to come out on top – even against the qualified teams that already have their tickets to the Esports World Cup in Riyadh. Still, their dominance in Western Europe remains on top, and no one is yet able to beat Liquid to a pulp as they continue to thrive with a highly-talented roster that is seen as one of the stacked squads that the Dota 2 scene has ever seen.
Tundra Esports (Pure, Topson, 9Class, Whitemon, RAMZES666)
Under the shadows of Team Liquid, there lurks a quiet contender in Tundra Esports, which is arguably one of the best teams that has ever emerged in Western Europe. While they are battling Liquid and many other contenders for dominance in that region, it cannot be denied that Tundra has rallied all the way from being a lowly team in the game to being a top-notch contender in the competition. So far, their chances of winning big in the coming DreamLeague Season 23 will depend on how well they will work with a tweaked squad in the coming games.
Natus Vincere (Nefrit, W_Zayac, Malady, Yuragi, sanctity-)
While the war wages in Western Europe, Natus Vincere has been the biggest team to look out for in the Eastern side, dominating almost every single game they have played in the past few weeks. Arguably the favorite to win in the DreamLeague Season 23, NaVi is expected to shine bright in Group B as they are slated to go up with the likes of Azure Ray, BetBoom Team, Team Falcons, Shopify Rebellion, and Tundra Esports, which will make up for an interesting clash between some of the best teams in the game that fans have been waiting for. This will be the perfect chance for NaVi to prove its stance in the competition.
Shopify Rebellion (Arteezy, Yopaj-, SabeRLight-, Kitrak, skem)
The North American juggernaut is easy to overlook considering the fact that they aren’t really making a lot of strides in their competitive runs on the big stage. Still, the undisputed champions of North America has really shined bright with a lot of promising games down the stretch, showing how well they can become one of the top teams to look out for in the DreamLeague Season 23. The highest they’ve managed is second place in the Season 21 of DreamLeague, while Season 22 saw them fall to 7th place.
Azure Ray (Lou, Ori, Faith_bian, fy, 天命)
Coming off a blazing finish in Elite League, it does seem that Azure Ray has found its way to become one of the most promising teams to look out for this season. Settling for a 11th-12th finish in the DreamLeague Season 22 has shown their struggles well – despite pulling off a string of impressive victories in their recent tournaments. Since that poor finish at the BetBoom Dacha Dubai 2024, Azure Ray has struggled to keep its foot on the gas and have deliberately lost a lot of games ever since. The DreamLeague Season 23 is a chance for them to pull off a chance at winning and getting back on their groove once more.
Witness Intense Showdowns in DreamLeague Season 23
The DreamLeague Season 23 is slated to take place next week, and fans should not miss the chance to support their favorite teams and place wagers on the biggest matches in the tournament. With bigger stakes in the competition and a slot at the Esports World Cup up for grabs, you can be sure to have no shortage of fiery clashes and rivalry wars that fans will surely enjoy to the fullest.
