“It’s a good thing I’m here, because it means things are trending better,” Freeman said as he choked up. “Chelsea and I, it’s been a long week. No one should have to go through this, especially a 3-year-old. I don’t know how many times Chelsea and I said we wish we could switch.”

So far, the Freemans have already shared that Max is at home and is making a speedy recovery. According to the doctors, there is a high chance that their son will be better in the long run. It has been a long week for the Freemans, but now they are really comfortable that their three-year-old son would get back to normal as soon as possible.

“Max is doing all right,” Freeman said. “We came home Saturday night from the ICU. So we started physical therapy yesterday, and let me tell you, he hates that. But he’s doing OK. He’s back, he’s Max. He’s doing good in that aspect. But he’s got to relearn how to do pretty much everything. Terrible syndrome. He’s doing OK. He’s on his way to being better.”

A Return to the Big Stage

Freeman played his first game since July 25th, and the first baseman did not waste any time as he continued to build on a strong season that has seen him named as one of the best players in the game. As of the time of writing, Freeman is hitting .287 along with 16 homers and 67 RBI.

The star nailed four at-bats to help in the win, which definitely sealed the deal for the Dodgers as they rolled over the Phillies in a 5-3 win to open up their series. The Las Vegas City Hall has opened its doors to a captivating new exhibition that delves into the rich history of a once-vital icon of the city's vibrant entertainment scene. Titled "The Spectacle of the Showgirl," the exhibition runs through the 10th of October and offers a nostalgic journey through the glitz and glamour that defined the showgirl era. The free exhibition, which is actually on loan from the Las Vegas Showgirl Museum of Grant Philipo, features an array of showgirl dresses and the ubiquitous headdresses from legendary productions across the region and across different time periods.

A nostalgic tribute

The exhibition is a fitting tribute to the showgirl legacy, coinciding with a significant transitional period for Las Vegas as the mayoral administrations of Oscar Goodman and Carolyn Goodman come to an end. Oscar Goodman, who served as mayor from 1999 all the way to 2011, played a pivotal role in reviving the showgirl as an emblem of Las Vegas. Over the past 25 years, any big celebration in the city saw Oscar escorted by showgirls, a sight that became synonymous with his tenure.

Carolyn Goodman, who succeeded her husband as mayor, further cemented the showgirl's place in the city's identity. In 2018, her administration erected two spectacular showgirl signs to greet visitors entering downtown Las Vegas from the north. However, in true Las Vegas fashion, these signs were replaced just four years later with new ones standing almost 60 feet, reflecting the city's penchant for constant reinvention.

But despite Oscar and Carol Goodmans' efforts to preserve the showgirl's legacy, this iconic symbol has largely become a relic of the past. The showgirls seen today along the sidewalks of the Las Vegas Strip are typically street performers or paid models posing for photos in exchange for tips. The concept of full-time jobs for women in dazzling sequined outfits and elaborate headdresses has faded into history. In fact, the last true showgirl performance, Bally's "Jubilee!", closed in 2016 after a remarkable 35-year run.

After a brief struggle in the next 10 minutes, Cincinnati would gather its wits and later managed to conjure a run of their own – which would set the stage for the comeback. Pavel Bucha found his way near the net behind an assist from Gerardo Valenzuela in the 79th minute to cut the lead to 2-1. Yamil Asad would later score the equalizer thanks to a promising pass from Obinna Nwobodo in the 82nd minute.

Cincinnati stole momentum in the game at that point. Yuya Kubo would then score the goal to take the lead for Cincinnati in the 86th minute, and it was followed by a quick goal by Sergio Santos just three minutes later to cap off the run and seal the deal as New York failed to answer back in the showdown.

Initially, New York City was able to come up with a promising lead in the stat sheet as they clearly dominated the game in the first part. However, it cannot be denied that the numbers shifted as soon as Cincinnati flipped the script in a snap.

They did have 447 passes, but none of those were seen well in the second half of the game as Cincinnati’s defense hardened later on. The defense was the key to the win by Cincinnati, and New York had no answer to those stifling defensive lines as they failed to hold on to their 2-0 lead and were definitely outclassed and outwitted to finish the game.

The New York Islanders are looking towards a new groove in the coming 2024-25 season so far with head coach Patrick Roy showing up with his impressive demand for excellence and leadership from the team’s training camp, and it does seem that his “fire” is fueling the rest of the Islanders to show up stronger than ever.

At this point, the Islanders are making some big strides in the training camp. Roy took over for the team last January 20th, and he helped the Islanders climb in the final 37 games of the season, which would later see them finish seventh overall in the Eastern Conference, only to get eliminated in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Heading into the 2024-25 season, Roy seeks to bring the Islanders to a whole new level – a higher form of competitiveness for the next run. New York hopes to win a Stanley Cup once more – a victory that they haven’t seen since the 1983-84 season. Now the time has come for their competitive strings of playoff performances to finally bear fruit with championships at the end of the day.

Back in his two seasons with the Dallas Mavericks, Dinwiddie has been a phenomenal player for the team, especially when he used to play second fiddle to Luka Doncic. He averaged 17.1 points and 4.9 assists in 76 games over parts of two campaigns. At the age of 31, it is clear that he still has what it takes to perform at a high level if given the chance.

Dinwiddie joins a promising and flexible backcourt that is filled by former Golden State star Klay Thompson, who was added via a sign-and-trade deal. Quentin Grimes is also showing some good signs in his game after being acquired via a trade with the Detroit Pistons. So far, this just means that the team is ready to take on a challenging game next season where they hope to win big.

All three were rushed to the hospital and were said to be alive on Saturday, while the Las Vegas police continue investigating the incident.

In a shocking incident early last Saturday, two staff members at the Red Rock Casino Resort & Spa in Las Vegas were critically injured by a solitary attacker, according to multiple news reports. The assailant, who was subsequently shot by the casino's security personnel, caused a chaotic scene in the usually bustling resort.

An isolated incident

The violent episode unfolded after 1 am when a man, armed with an undisclosed weapon, attacked two employees of the Red Rock Casino. The victims sustained life-threatening injuries and were swiftly transported to the University Medical Center for emergency treatment. The attacker, who was also injured, was taken to the same hospital for medical care.

As of Saturday morning, all three individuals were reported to be alive, although no detailed information regarding the nature of their injuries has been released.

"I was there," an unnamed witness told Vital Vegas. The witness said they had stuck around after a concert. The witness added, "Security ran by not far from me chasing someone, and then you heard the shot fired. People scattered everywhere. I dove behind a machine. Whoever was shot was down near the entrance to Lucky Penny."

The quick response from Red Rock Casino's security team ensured that the situation was contained rapidly, preventing any further harm to guests or staff. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department was alerted to the incident shortly after it began, and multiple officers arrived at the scene.

Despite the severity of the attack, it appeared to be an isolated incident, and there was no ongoing threat to the public. The casino continued its operations, albeit under heightened security and scrutiny from investigators.

Ongoing investigation

The LVMPD has initiated a thorough investigation into the stabbing. Surveillance footage from the casino is being reviewed to piece together the events that led to the attack. Investigators are also interviewing witnesses and collecting physical evidence to determine the motive behind the assault.

At this time, the identities of the suspect and the victims have not been disclosed. In addition, authorities have not confirmed whether the weapon used in the attack was a knife or other kind of sharp instrument.

Gunfire in downtown Las Vegas

In a separate incident, gunfire erupted near Main street and Fremont in Downtown Las Vegas early Saturday morning. The LVMPD reported that a fight between two groups escalated into gunfire around 5 am. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries related to this incident.

The altercation occurred in the 100 block of Fremont Street, close to Eastern Avenue and Charleston Boulevard, an area known for its vibrant nightlife and numerous casinos. The Fremont Street Experience, a popular attraction, is also located nearby.

Multiple suspects were detained in connection with the downtown fight, although their identities and any charges have not yet been made public. The LVMPD is continuing to investigate this incident as well, seeking to determine the cause of the altercation and ensure public safety in the area.
