DeMar DeRozan Inks Deal to Join Sacramento Kings

In a three-team trade, the Sacramento Kings have acquired a massive upgrade that fans have been looking for after bringing in DeMar DeRozan via a sign-and-trade with the Chicago Bulls and the San Antonio Spurs. The deal also sends Harrison Barnes to the Spurs, while the Bulls receive two second-round picks and cash compensation to balance out the deal.

At the age of 34, DeRozan moves on from his era with the Chicago Bulls after spending the last three years with empty playoff runs. Still, the six-time All-Star has been quite on the roll in his games as he has established himself as one of the biggest scorers in the game, and it cannot be denied that the 2009 9th overall pick has become a fantastic player in his own right so far.

Sacramento brings in a promising star in DeRozan to shore up their hopes of finishing better than they did in the 2023-24 season, where they fell short of the playoffs after losing to the New Orleans Pelicans in the Play-In Tournament.

A Promising Look with Sacramento

The Sacramento Kings have made its return to the NBA Playoffs stage in the 2022-23 season as a promising team to begin with. It was a massive campaign that saw them back in the postseason for the first time since 2003. With DeRozan, the Kings arm themselves in the massive race in the Western Conference that has been getting really tougher with more and more stars in the mix between teams, which says a lot about how DeRozan will make an impact for Sacramento.

In the 2023-24 season, DeRozan played a total of 79 games, averaging 24 points, 5.3 assists, and 4.3 rebounds to go along with 1.1 steals. The forward has been shooting well from the field with 48% and 33% from three. It is also worth noting that DeRozan is one of the hailed top scorers in the fourth quarter, earning him the nickname “King in the Fourth” in the previous seasons.

DeRozan teams up with De’Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis, who arguably were one of the best duos in the game last season, at least until the team suffered some tough injuries that led to their fall in the later parts of the campaign and the eventual loss to the Pelicans in the Play-In Tournament.

Sacramento’s Hopes of a Title

Sacramento has made the Playoffs in 2023, only to lose to a Game 7 battle with the Golden State Warriors. They would then go on to be established as contenders in the game after that. It is worth noting that they just finished two games behind the previous record they had, finishing with a 48-34 record in the 2022-23 season, and then a 46-36 record in the previous campaign, but the difference was that they were in the 9th seed by the end of the run.

Now with DeRozan, the expectations are coming off with a bigger stride for the Kings, with the pressure building up on the team’s hopes of a championship, this seems to be the tipping point. As the oldest team in the NBA, it cannot be denied that the Kings really deserve to win since moving to Sacramento in the 1984-85 season. Now is the chance for the Kings to prove their worth on the big stage and finally secure their place at the top of the league now more than ever.

Glitzy Cosmopolitan Las Vegas’ Rewards Program Set to Merge with MGM Rewards Later This Month

Glitzy Cosmopolitan Las Vegas’ Rewards Program Set to Merge with MGM Rewards Later This Month

It's been a little over two years since MGM Resorts International acquired the Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas, but the iconic venue's Identity Membership & Rewards program is only set to transition to MGM Rewards on July 30.

MGM Resorts secured the rights to the Cosmopolitan in a deal with Blackstone for $1.6 billion in September of 2021. Originally, the transition of the Identity program associated with the Cosmopolitan to MGM Rewards was slated for February of this year, but it was delayed, with some attributing the postponement to a significant cybersecurity breach that impacted the domestic operations of MGM the previous September. But MGM Resorts has since announced incentives for existing Identity members as the transition approaches.

"All of your Identity Tier Points earned between July 30, 2023 (and) July 29, 2024 at The Cosmopolitan will be doubled and (will be) converted into MGM Rewards Tier Credits as of July 29, 2024," MGM stated. MGM also maintained that table game points amassed from the 30th of July, 2023, to the 29th of July, 2024 will be added to the players' MGM Rewards account as additional Tier Credits. All these combined credits will be used to assess the members' tier status, which will be valid until the 31st of January, 2026. MGM Rewards features five levels of tiers: Sapphire, in the first tier, followed by Pearl, then Gold, succeeded by Platinum, and finally, the invitation-only NOIR tier.

Understanding the transition from Identity to MGM Rewards

Casino programs related to rewards can vary significantly in how they calculate tier credits and points, with every operator using unique terminology and lingo to distinguish each. This is certainly true for the transition from Identity to MGM Rewards. Cosmopolitan patrons, for instance, should note that "tier points" under the Identity program will be referred to as "tier credits" in the MGM Rewards system.

Another important change involves the timing of tier status evaluations. Case in point: The MGM Rewards' Tier Status Earning Year begins on January 1 and ends on December 31. During this period, members can earn Tier Credits to determine their status for the existing and following Tier Status Benefit Year, which alternatively runs from the 1st of February to the 31st of January, as explained by MGM. MGM adds, "Tier Credits reset to zero annually on January 1."

Furthermore, Identity Points players earn through video poker, slots, and other gaming platforms at the Cosmopolitan will be known as Slot Dollars once they transition to MGM Rewards.

Plenty of chances and opportunities to earn with MGM Rewards

While the modifications to casino loyalty rewards programs often face a lot of scrutiny, the integration of Identity into MGM Rewards presents clear advantages. Frequent guests of the Cosmopolitan, for example, will gain additional avenues to earn tier credits and points.

Furthermore, MGM Rewards members can accumulate points and credits at over 20 casinos on the Las Vegas Strip and across regional locations in the US, as well as through the BetMGM app. Moreover, members can earn points that they can easily redeem on various non-gaming activities, including dining, hotel stays, spa services, entertainment, and retail purchases.

To advance through the MGM Rewards tiers, members need to accrue 25,000 tier credits to reach Pearl status. From there, 75,000 credits are required for Gold, and Platinum status demands 200,000 tier credits.

As the integration date approaches, Cosmopolitan guests and Identity members can look forward to the enhanced benefits and expanded opportunities that come with being part of the larger MGM Rewards ecosystem.

Funding Expanded by $3 Million for Michigan Gaming Control Board to Allow for Growth and More Robust Responsible Gaming Strategy

Funding Expanded by $3 Million for Michigan Gaming Control Board to Allow for Growth and More Robust Responsible Gaming Strategy

In a significant move aimed at bolstering responsible gambling initiatives, the Michigan Gaming Control Board (otherwise referred to as the MGCB) has announced a $3 million increase in funding for its resources, bringing the total budget to $6 million. This development includes $1.9 million allocated from the 2024 state budget to multiply the MGCB team by adding 14 full-time staff members.

The infusion of funds enhances the MGCB's standing as a premier iGaming regulator in the United States and strengthens its oversight of Michigan's online casinos. Henry Williams, the executive director of the MGCB, expressed his profound gratitude to Governor Gretchen Whitmer, along with the Michigan Legislature, for their commitment to improving the agency's regulatory efforts and their operations. Williams further acknowledged the governor and the legislature's dedication to enhancing the MGCB’s capabilities in an official press release.

This additional funding will be available at the start of the state's Fiscal Year 2025 budget on the first of October, 2024, pending Governor Whitmer's signature on the budget's bipartisan agreement.

New positions to support Michigan's rapid growth in iGaming

The acquisition of 14 full-time staff is crucial, as it supports the Michigan Gaming Control Board's regulatory duties related to sports betting and internet gaming. It can be said that Michigan's iGaming market is among the fastest-growing in North America, with 15 licensed providers and operators, including prominent names like FanDuel, DraftKings, Caesars Palace Online Casino, and BetMGM. These operators collectively offer more than 10,000 slot games and noteworthy no-deposit bonus deals. The expansion of the Control Board's workforce is further meant to enhance protections against illegal activities and ensure a more secure gambling environment in the Great Lakes state.

The extra $3 million allotted for the budget will be directed for the Compulsive Gambling Prevention Fund and its related programs. These funds will also bolster the 24/7 Gambling Disorder Helpline and offer additional educational resources to inform younger generations about the risks of online gambling. In addition, the financial boost will support existing treatment methods for individuals struggling with gambling addiction and associated issues.

Henry Williams emphasized that doubling up the Compulsive Gambling Prevention Fund demonstrates the commitment of the agency to responsible gaming. He stated that the MGCB is collaborating with various institutions in the state to uphold the integrity of the iGaming industry and protect MI residents.

Expansion of the 'Don't Regret the Bet' campaign

Along with all of this, in a comprehensive responsible gaming approach, the MGCB will allocate $3 million to its acclaimed "Don't Regret the Bet" campaign. Launched in March 2023 in collaboration with King Media, a marketing firm based in Michigan, the campaign features engaging advertisements aimed at players prone to gambling addiction. The ads are broadcast via social media, billboards, television, and radio channels all across Michigan, with podcasts playing a crucial role in raising awareness as well.

The "Don't Regret the Bet" campaign has received multiple prestigious awards, including the Platinum dotCOMM Award, the Platinum Viddy Award, and the Platinum MarCom Award in 2023. Its success is not hampered in 2024, having recently been honored with the equally-prestigious PRNEWS Digital Award.

By investing in these initiatives, the Control Board aims to provide comprehensive support for responsible gambling, ensuring that Michigan's gaming industry grows in a safe and regulated manner. The agency's proactive measures reflect a deep commitment to safeguarding the well-being of Michigan residents while maintaining the integrity of the MI iGaming sector.

The Michigan Gaming Control Board's announcement of increased funding for responsible gambling and the expansion of its workforce marks a significant milestone in enhancing the state's regulatory framework. With its new resources and an expanded team, the MGCB is well-positioned to address the challenges of a rapidly growing online gambling market. The additional funds will not only support regulatory efforts but also provide essential resources for education, prevention, and treatment related to gambling addiction. This comprehensive approach underscores Michigan's commitment to responsible gaming - and sets a precedent for other jurisdictions to follow.

More Than 80 Percent of Shareholders in Caesars Deny Research Proposal on Banning Smoking

More Than 80 Percent of Shareholders in Caesars Deny Research Proposal on Banning Smoking

In an ongoing and heated debate, the issue of smoking in land-based casinos has been obstructed even further with a research proposal studying the effects of smoking having been denied by 81% of shareholders in Caesars Entertainment. But the battle rages on, as anti-smoking proponents show no signs of giving up.

The battle is still ongoing: the contentious issue of banning smoking in Atlantic City casinos remains unresolved as a lawsuit against local casinos awaits a Superior Court ruling. Various stakeholders, including shareholders of Bally's Corp and Caesars as well as Trinity Health, have expressed their opinions on the matter.

Shareholders say no: research is unnecessary

Shareholders of Bally's Corp and Caesars, who, as most of us know, own four out of the nine casinos in Atlantic City and several online casinos in New Jersey, oppose conducting research on the effects of prohibiting smoking in casino floors and play areas. A nonprofit healthcare organization and shareholder in several gaming companies, Trinity Health, proposed to commission said research. Trinity Health and the Americans for Nonsmoker's Rights Foundation argue that allowing indoor smoking in casinos could lead to higher maintenance costs and worker health insurance premiums, as well as a potential decline in customers who want to avoid exposure to second-hand smoke.

But despite these concerns, the proposal from Trinity Health was rejected. Caesars Entertainment stated that conducting the research would not be a wise use of its resources. The board of directors of Caesars further added that it takes the health and safety of all its customers as seriously as possible, and when it allows smoking in certain designated areas of its many properties, it also naturally ensures that it helps protect its nonsmoking clients' and customers' health.

In fact, in June, more than 81% of votes gathered at Caesars Entertainment’s annual meeting opposed the research proposal, according to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing. Caesars Entertainment runs and operates a total of three casinos in New Jersey’s Atlantic City: Harrah's, Tropicana, and, of course, Caesars, while Bally's owns the Bally's casino.

Proponents of the smoking ban in casinos remain as hopeful as ever

In spite of the strong opposition, however, the CEO of the Americans for Nonsmokers' Rights Foundation, Cynthia Hallett, continues to be hopeful. She pointed to the other portion of those supporting research on a smoking ban, which, at this point, consists of Boyd Gaming, with a 22% shareholder support. It’s worth noting, though, that Boyd Gaming does not own or manage any Atlantic City casinos. "We've established an incredibly strong foundation from which to build," Hallett states. She continues that most proposals don't even make it to the voting stage, nor do they reach "double-digit-level support." She further adds that as the issue of smoking in casinos has now reached the boardroom, companies cannot ignore this truly crucial matter that is affecting the health and wellness of both the guests and employees.

This development comes only about a month after a Superior Court judge listened to arguments for a smoking ban following a lawsuit filed by Atlantic City employees in casinos. The employees claim that numerous casino floors in Atlantic City are "toxic" because of the smoking. But the state contended that a ban on smoking would result in revenue and job losses in the thousands. UNITE Here Local 54, a union that represents over 10,000 casino workers, along with the New Jersey attorney general, are pushing for the lawsuit’s dismissal.

In the meantime, Judge Patrick Bartels with the Superior Court, who oversaw the arguments in May, stated his intention to issue a relevant ruling as early as possible. For now, both stakeholders and employees are at a standstill and are eagerly awaiting the verdict.

Vladimir Tarasenko Inks 2-Year $9 5 Million Deal with Red Wings

Vladimir Tarasenko Inks 2-Year $9 5 Million Deal with Red Wings

Vladimir Tarasenko seeks to come up with a promising season in his game next season after signing a new deal with the Detroit Red Wings. The forward has inked a two-year deal worth $9.5 million with the Red Wings as he seeks to boost the team in their hopes of scoring a deeper campaign in the 2023-24 season now more than ever.

Tarasenko played for the Ottawa Senators early in the 2023-24 season before being traded to the Florida Panthers in the middle of the campaign. The forward played an impressive campaign in the playoffs, scoring nine points (five goals, four assists) in 24 Stanley Cup Playoff games to help the Panthers win the Cup.

The Red Wings now have added a valuable forward with Tarasenko and keeps a new competitive roster that can make a splash in the coming season with the goal of finally reaching the Playoffs and if they’re lucky, the Stanley Cup Final as well. Tarasenko brings in valuable experience to the squad and can be a pivotal piece as a promising player, to begin with, and that makes him a key player to look out for next season.

A New Groove for Tarasenko

Last season at the age of 32, Tarasenko significantly improved his performance. He scored 55 points, with 23 goals and 32 assists, in 76 regular-season games while playing for the Florida Panthers and Ottawa Senators. After being acquired by the Panthers in a trade with the Senators on March 6, he achieved 14 points, including six goals and eight assists, in 19 games.

"He's a left-shot winger with a bigger body, a little different type of player than our wingers: Lucas (Raymond), Patrick Kane and Alex DeBrincat," Red Wings general manager Steve Yzerman said Thursday. "He's a bigger body (6-foot-1, 219 pounds) to fill out that top-six or top-nine group with a straight-ahead guy who is big and strong and will go to the net."

Drafted by the St. Louis Blues in the first round (No. 16) of the 2010 NHL Draft, Tarasenko has accumulated 629 points (293 goals, 336 assists) in 751 regular-season games for the Panthers, Senators, New York Rangers, and Blues. Additionally, he has earned 73 points (49 goals, 24 assists) in 121 playoff games.

A Bigger Pace for the Red Wings

The Detroit Red Wings (41-32-9) ended last season tied in points with the Washington Capitals for the second wild card spot in the Eastern Conference playoffs. However, they lost the tiebreaker based on regulation wins (32-27), causing them to miss the playoffs for the eighth consecutive season, which is now the longest streak in their history.

During free agency, Detroit signed goalies Cam Talbot to a two-year contract and Jack Campbell to a one-year contract, as well as forward Tyler Motte to a one-year contract and defenseman Erik Gustafsson to a two-year contract. They also re-signed forward Christian Fischer to a one-year contract and retained Kane with a one-year contract on June 30.

Tarasenko brings in a diverse veteran experience with the Red Wings. He has been one of the most experienced players left in the game, and Detroit needs his impressive game if they are going to come up with an impressive campaign that will help them come up with a competitive campaign. Who knows, maybe Tarasenko can come up with a bigger groove with his championship experience on the ice rink.

LAFC Midfielder Mateusz Bogusz Named Player of the Month for June

LAFC Midfielder Mateusz Bogusz Named Player of the Month for June

Mateusz Bogusz has been quite an impressive star in his own right and has played at a high level for the Los Angeles FC this season. In June, LAFC has enjoyed a promising level of play with the midfielder making the most of his playmaking and leading them to an undefeated rally with a 4-0-1 record. At the age of 22, there’s no denying that he is enjoying a fantastic season with the LAFC.

LAFC sits at the top the Western Conference standings in the 2024 season, which just says a lot about their promising campaign, and the impressive month of June from Bogusz has certainly helped in coming up with a big stretch that proved to be pivotal in their campaign. This has been the best season for the LAFC since winning the league title in the 2022 season, where Bogusz wasn’t even playing for the team yet.

As of the time of writing, LAFC stands with a 12-4-4 record with 40 points, and no one can deny the fact that Bogusz has played a huge role in capitalizing their victories night in and night out, which has definitely raised the level of play from the midfielder.

A Breakout Performance in a Month

Bogusz has been quite the spectacular player for a youngster in his MLS run. At the age of 22, the Polish midfielder is enjoying a breakout season in his second runw with the team. As of the time of writing, Bogusz has a total of 12 goals and five assists, which includes a total of 4 match winners in the season. LAFC has even enjoyed an unbeaten run of nine games, with Bogusz scoring nine goals and four assists in that stretch alone.

In three straight matches last June, Bogusz has notched three goal contributions as LAFC delivered big wins against San Jose and Colorado. This award marks Bogusz as the fourth LAFC player to win the Player of the Month, joining an elite company that includes Denis Bouanga, Adama Diomande and Carlos Vela (three times). On top of all that, he and Piotr Nowak (May 1998) are the only Polish players MLS history to win the award.

Bogusz capped off the month with a superhuman performance in his first-ever MLS hat trick as he led LAFC to secure a promising win over the Colorado Rapids last June 29 with a 3-0 performance. That’s just how he has improved in his game in just a year.

Continuing the Massive Pace

Should Bogusz continue his impressive campaign, it does seem that the midfielder has a chance to make a strong case for the MVP award in the season. We have seen the success of Denis Bouanga as a key candidate for LAFC, and it is no secret that the two stars have been working well with each other to help the club reach bigger heights in the game.

Being a 22-year-old is not an issue with winning the MVP, and it is an understatement to say that Bogusz is a deserving MVP candidate. After all, his massive contributions in the game has definitely shaken up LAFC’s chances of winning, and it cannot be denied that his game is on the verge of reaching bigger heights, and at this point, winning the Player of the Month is just barely scratching the surface of his impressive performances that have lifted LAFC to a bigger level

New Poker Ruling Supported by TDA Summit
July 4th, 20242 mins

New Poker Ruling Supported by TDA Summit

July 4, 2024 – Over the weekend, the PokerGO Studio in Las Vegas hosted the ninth biennial summit of the Poker Tournament Directors Association (TDA).

The summit, which was attended by tournament directors, players, and other interested parties, had the same goal as always: standardizing and enhancing poker regulations to make the game more enjoyable for both novice and expert players.

Major Poker Pros Take the Floor

The topic of how to encourage more women to play the game and how to make the game more welcoming to new players was one of the many topics of debate. Longtime poker pro Katie Stone and big stakes grinder Victoria Livschitz were among those who took the floor to share their thoughts on this subject.

The recent "controversial" verdict, which, depending on your perspective, caused Daniel Negreanu to take to X in outrage and label it the "dumbest ruling I've seen in a while," was also on the agenda. The discussion at the time focused on what happens when a player who is raising folds accidentally before their raise is called, as we noted.

TDA's Matt Savage discussed a ruling with PokerOrg and reiterated at the Summit that it protects innocent player mistakes and aligns with TDA rules. Negreanu was invited to argue his case but did not attend. Player Matt Waxman attended and contributed to discussions.

“The most miraculous part is when TDs decide that, even though they don’t agree with the majority, they are going to follow the procedure, so that the players have a consistent experience, wherever they play a poker tournament. This is a testament to the professionalism and goodwill of all involved. I was incredibly proud to be part of the entire experience.” Savage adds.

Poker TDA members can attend the TDA Summit for free. Visit their website to find out more about the Poker TDA and to register for the upcoming event in 2026.

$20 Million Subsidy for Horse Betting Approved by New Jersey Legislature
July 4th, 20243 mins

$20 Million Subsidy for Horse Betting Approved by New Jersey Legislature

July 4, 2024 – On Friday, lawmakers in New Jersey passed two legislation pertaining to horse betting to stabilize and sustain the racing business financially.

The legislature's two houses agreed to keep the $20 million yearly horse racing purse subsidy in place. Both Senate Bill S3203 and Assembly Bill A2610 received unanimous votes on Friday.

The horse betting business welcomed Gov. Phil Murphy's 2019 approval of an initial $100 million over five years to fund purses. The most recent bill increases those monies by an additional five years.

Funding for the Sports Niche

The state's general fund will provide the $20 million subsidy. The other half will go to harness racing, and the other half to Monmouth Park to sustain thoroughbred purses.

When asked about the extra boost in funding, the CEO of Monmouth Park, Dennis Drazin had a lot to say. “This $10 million helps us remain competitive with other East Coast tracks and attract top-quality horses to New Jersey,” Dennis Drazin, CEO of Monmouth Park, told LSR on Monday. “Gov. Murphy has always had the industry’s back, and we expect him to sign the bill,” Drazin adds.

The money is only intended to support racing purses. The track operations at Monmouth Park, where construction of a new Caesars Sportsbook is underway, will not be supported by it. The best horses are usually drawn to higher prizes, which in turn draws more horseplayers. The tracks use the increased money from greater horse betting to pay for operations, development projects, purses, and other expenses.

The Jockey Club reports that Monmouth Park awarded prizes of $28.4 million for 541 races in the previous year. In 2010, 50 racing days with payouts of an average of $1 million were offered at Monmouth Park in collaboration with the state government.

Racing purses reached a 20-year high in the middle of the 2000s when $67.8 million was given out in 2007. New Jersey held around 1,200 thoroughbred races in 2003; however, in the last few years, that number has been slashed in half.

“We want to run more, but having more races means we could not be as competitive with purses,” Drazin adds.”

Future Additional Revenue

In order to compete with the upcoming casinos slated to open around New York City, Drazin wants to provide more gaming to New Jersey.

Finding a means to maintain that business in New Jersey is the goal, he continued. He recommended a casino or playing slots at Monmouth Park or the Meadowlands. Retail sportsbooks are currently available on-site at both racetracks.

Las Vegas' Sphere, the World's Hottest Concert Venue, Celebrates a Year of Amazing Firsts

A year ago, precisely on Independence Day, July 4, the Sphere, as it is fondly called, started its enthralling reign over the skyline of Las Vegas. This dominance was not achieved through sheer height alone, but rather through unparalleled imagination and creativity. The largest LED screen in the world, the Exosphere, marked its debut with a vibrant display, featuring virtual fireworks along with a rotating flag to celebrate Independence Day.

The inaugural message on the Exosphere one year ago was a simple yet symbolic "Hello World." Following this modest beginning, however, the Sphere captivated viewers with a continuous stream of images, including baseballs heralding MLB relocations, giant eyeballs, and the famous yellow emoji. This playful emoji, which appears to mock incoming plane passengers and even golfers enjoying a day in the sun, even displayed a sunburn in the summer - in tune with the intense Vegas heat.

The Sphere: a novel and new attraction on the Vegas skyline

Costing a staggering $2.3 billion, it's no wonder the Sphere has swiftly become the hottest destination in Las Vegas in the last year alone. The Exosphere, which spans an area equivalent to four football fields, has become a sight so mesmerizing that airline passengers are choosing their seats based on the best angle and view of the Sphere! This phenomenon has even led to a notorious ordinance that now bans stops along foot bridges on the Las Vegas Strip, as tourists often linger for extended periods to capture the perfect Sphere graphic.

Inside the Sphere, the views are even more magnificent: the magic continues for those who can afford the steep ticket prices, with seats starting at $250 and even parking fees at $100. Audiences have also been treated to exclusive performances by U2, Dead & Company, and Phish, all enhanced by 160,000 sq. feet of singular psychedelic videos. For example, one of the most memorable interior graphics was during a Dead & Company performance, where the venue transformed into a spaceship launching from an iconic San Francisco street.

Last week, the Sphere hosted its first NHL Draft, with Celine Dion announcing the first draft pick on the Montreal Canadiens, her hometown team. However, not all events at the Sphere have gone as part of a plan. In February, Maison Des Champs, the infamous "Pro-life Spiderman," a 23-year-old activist, free-climbed the Exosphere to make a statement that largely went unnoticed. Instead, Des Champs just wandered around and live streamed the event on Instagram before being arrested.

The Sphere and financial challenges and setbacks

Financially, the Sphere has faced challenges, perhaps due to its staggering cost. In its first quarter, the venue amassed a $193.9 million loss on a revenue of $167.8 million. As mentioned, this financial strain is largely due to its $2.3 billion construction cost, making it the costliest entertainment venue ever designed and built in Vegas. Additionally, U2’s residency at the Sphere was costly, with reports indicating that James Dolan (the owner of the Sphere) promised the band an unprecedented 90% of the proceedings from the gate plus an astonishing $10 million more for their visuals.

But in spite of these initial financial losses, the Sphere's revenue has been rising for each new quarter. A significant contributor to this growth is the success of Darren Aronofsky's movie, "Postcard from the Edge," which has produced $44.5 million by November in ticket sales alone.

While the Sphere is not yet what one would call a profitable venture, its future as part of the Las Vegas skyline seems secure. Its innovative approach and overwhelming popularity have cemented its place as an iconic landmark in the heart of Vegas, promising more captivating displays and unforgettable performances far into the future of Sin City.
